Freelance Event Sales Manager

You already know who books event staff in this region. Bring them to us, we deliver, and you earn on every booking for a year — without managing a single shift.

Commission only · Non-exclusive · Your own hours · UAE & GCC · Freelance permit or trade licence required

What you would be selling

Guild & Craft supplies event staff, professionals and talent across the UAE and the wider GCC to agencies, event-tech companies, brands, organisers and venues. If it is a person standing at an event, we can put them there. Staffing is our core business and your main lane:

Guest experience — registration, check-in and scanning crew, hosts and hostesses, ushers, promoters, brand ambassadors, models

Hospitality and operations — waiters, event help staff, runners, drivers

Supervision — event supervisors and event managers who run the floor

Content — photographers and videographers

Talent and entertainment — stand-up comedians, singers, dancers, musicians and specialty acts

Headline talent — international and regional celebrities, TV personalities, sports personalities, public figures and keynote speakers, and touring music bands, booked through their management

Whatever the brief asks for, the answer is usually yes — and if it is a category we have not staffed before, we will tell you straight rather than let you promise something we cannot deliver.

Your territory is the GCC, not just Dubai. We have crew across the major cities — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, Kuwait City, Manama and Muscat. If your network sits in Saudi or Qatar rather than the UAE, that is an advantage here, not a problem.

We also take on full event management where the brief fits, which gives you a second and larger lane when a client has a whole event to place rather than a crew to fill.

The delivery is not your problem, and it is worth knowing it is handled properly before you put your name to it. We run every booking through our own portal: the client gets a private shortlist link, approves the profiles they want, and receives a digital estimate and tax invoice. Published rate card, briefed crew, 45 minutes early on site. You are introducing a company that will not embarrass you in front of a client you spent two years building a relationship with.

What you would do

Open doors — agencies, brand teams, event-tech companies, exhibition organisers, hotels, anyone who books temporary event crew or entertainment

Register each lead with us before you work it, so your claim on that client is on record

Bring us the brief; we prepare the quotation and the shortlist, usually same day

Close it, in whatever way you normally close

Hand over. We deliver, invoice and collect. You are free to go and open the next door.

You are not asked to manage bookings, brief crew, handle replacements or chase payment. If you want to be involved in delivery, that is a separate conversation and a separate fee.

What you would earn

Commission on the invoice value — not on our profit, so there is nothing for us to argue with you about at month end. Rates are marginal, in bands, on the first booking a new client places:

Staffing and entertainers — your main lane

FIRST BOOKING OF A CLIENT YOU INTRODUCED

Commissionable revenue

Rate

First AED 50,000

5.0%

AED 50,001 – 200,000

3.0%

AED 200,001 – 500,000

2.0%

Above AED 500,000

1.5%

Then 3% of every booking that client places for the next 12 months — whether you are involved in it or not. One introduction, a year of income from it.

Commissionable revenue is the invoice excluding VAT and excluding straight pass-through costs we rebill at cost — venue hire, food and beverage, government permits, third-party production hire. On staffing work, that is effectively the whole invoice.

WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE IN PRACTICE

Deal

You earn

A 6,000 staffing booking

300

…that client then books 19 more times in the year

+3,540

A 25,000 crew booking for a three-day expo

1,250

A 40,000 entertainment booking — comedian and band

2,000

Uncapped, and non-exclusive — most people doing this run it alongside their other work rather than as their only income. Paid within 30 days of us collecting from the client, against your invoice.

Headline talent bookings work differently

A celebrity, sports personality, keynote speaker or touring band is booked through their management, and their fee is passed straight through to them — it is not ours. So these run on the event-mandate rates below, calculated after the talent fee and their travel and hospitality are taken out.

On a 400,000 AED celebrity booking where the artist fee and hospitality come to 350,000, commission is calculated on the remaining 50,000 — so you earn 2,000, not 20,000. Glamorous deal, modest commission. Better you know that now than after you have closed one.

Event mandates — welcome, accepted case by case

If one of your clients has a whole event to place — a corporate event or conference, an exhibition, a gala, a community, music or sports event — bring it. We take these on selectively, so the rule is: register the brief, not just the client, and we will tell you within 48 hours whether we are pursuing it. A fast no costs you nothing; we will never let you work a brief for weeks and then pass on it.

ACCEPTED EVENT MANDATES · MINIMUM 25,000 AED INVOICE

Commissionable revenue

Rate

First AED 100,000

4.0%

AED 100,001 – 300,000

3.0%

AED 300,001 – 750,000

2.0%

Above AED 750,000

1.25%

Paid 40% when the client's advance clears, 60% on final collection. Event deals take months to land and months more to deliver — you should not have to wait until after the event to see any of it.

One thing to be straight about, because it is where people get disappointed: commission is on commissionable revenue, not the headline budget. On production-heavy events — music and sports especially — most of the budget is artist fees, venue and production that we pass through at cost.

How it works

You register the lead. Name and contact, by email or through the portal, before you approach them. For an event mandate, register the brief too.

We confirm within 48 hours that they are not already our client or registered to someone else. Written confirmation — that is your protection, and the reason disputes do not happen here.

You work it. You have 90 days to land a first booking before the registration lapses.

We quote and deliver. Send us the requirement and we shortlist profiles against it, then share that shortlist with you — a private link matched to the brief, not a general database to browse. You have the rate card and a co-branded presentation in your own name from day one.

You invoice us against the monthly commission statement, which lists every qualifying invoice and how it was calculated.

What we do not offer

Worth being straight about it, so nobody wastes a meeting:

No base, no retainer, no draw against commission

No leads handed to you — inbound enquiries are handled by our in-house team and are not commissionable

No expenses, no visa sponsorship, no employment relationship

No commission on clients we already work with, which is exactly why step 2 exists

Interested?

No CV needed. Send a short note telling us which part of the market you know and the kind of clients you would bring. If it fits, we will send the agreement and get you the rate card and your co-branded sales materials the same week.

This is an independent contractor engagement, not employment. Commission terms are set out in full in our Freelance Sales Agent Agreement, which we will share before you commit to anything.

Desired Candidate Profile

Who this suits

You have an existing network in UAE events, experiential marketing, exhibitions, hospitality or brand activations — people who will take your call today

You have sold before, in events or staffing or an adjacent B2B service, and do not need to be taught how to open a conversation

You hold a valid UAE freelance permit or your own trade licence and can invoice us properly

You are comfortable with commission-only work and are not looking for a retainer or a draw

One expectation worth setting plainly: staffing tickets are small and the money here comes from opening accounts, not from landing one big deal. The people who do well register eight to ten leads a month. If you are hoping a single event will carry the year, this will disappoint you.

About the Role Birg is a holding company that builds companies.
Four entities run on one connected system: Birg.
co (the holding company), rthmc (the venture studio that takes technology companies from idea to scale), Interuum (the talent pool deployed across the group), and Birg Capital (the capital arm).
This role exists for one reason: so the CEO no longer has to be the guy in the room for execution to happen.
You will lead the venture studio’s execution across the portfolio, launching concurrent ventures on system and to standard and scaling toward roughly ten live ventures by the end of 2027.
You'll work directly with a repeat, exited founder whose leverage belongs on capital, partnerships, and the next opportunity — not on whether Venture 002 shipped on time.
That part is yours.
The machine handles the black-and-white on purpose, which is exactly why you can't be.
We're looking for the operator who reads the signal beneath the noise, knows the entrepreneur from the wantpreneur on sight, and has the gravitas to hire and motivate Venture CEOs you'd put in front of a Fortune 500 board.
Speed, operating rigor, and founder instinct rarely live in one person.
When they do, that's this hire.
Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the Machine Reach full fluency — fast — in how the group operates: every system, every venture, every gate.
Own the operating system end to end and hold every venture to its M0 / M1 / M2 stage gates.
Nothing progresses on momentum alone.
Improve the system continuously as patterns emerge across the portfolio.
Treat adherence to the system as non-negotiable — for yourself and everyone in it.
Own Venture Execution Drive Venture 001 and Venture 002 from readiness to launch; plan and stage Venture 003.
Make sequencing and prioritization calls independently — which venture to push, which to pause, before the dashboard says so.
Be accountable for launches, on time and on system — not for tracking projects.
Report signal, not activity, and surface risk early.
Recruit & Motivate Venture Leadership Attract and hire Venture CEOs (or EIRs, where that's the better model) for Venture 001 and every venture that follows.
Build the attract kit and compensation architecture that lands founder-caliber talent.
Bring the gravitas and motivation that keeps venture leaders performing at pace.
Run the Control Center Own the venture studio’s operating cadence: annual planning → quarterly mapping → monthly plans → weekly deliverables.
Run execution in ClickUp (or equivalent) with real discipline; coordinate leadership calendars and build the rhythms that keep everyone in sync.
Surface anything blocked or behind before the halfway mark — never at the deadline.
Ensure each venture has the digital presence required for launch, working with the relevant growth and brand leads.
Build the Team & the AI Layer Assess hiring needs across the portfolio and bring people in with the Head of People (HOP) through the systems already built.
Default to AI agents before headcount; build and improve the AI operating layer that lets one operator oversee many ventures at once.
Build lean, high-caliber teams only when the portfolio has earned them.
Success Metrics First 30 days Full fluency in the group and its systems — what's shipped, blocked, and at risk across Venture 001 and 002.
A weekly operating cadence live across the portfolio.
By 90 days Birg.
co and all subsidiary websites and online presence built and live.
Venture 001 and 002 execution on track and on system; Venture 003 planned and staged.
A repeatable reporting framework running; first Venture CEO / EIR search underway, with attract kit and compensation in place.
6 months Venture leadership placed and performing; hiring flowing through the systems with HOP.
The control center running the portfolio on a predictable rhythm.
12 months Execution runs on systems, not on the CEO's oversight.
Ventures launching on the same playbook, each faster than the last — on the path to ~10 live ventures by the end of 2027.
The CEO makes portfolio and resourcing calls on your judgment without checking the underlying work.
RequirementsMust-Have Experience 6+ years operating in startups, venture building, or general management — ideally across more than one company.
Fractional / portfolio COO capability: you've run execution across multiple products or business lines at once, without a large team behind you.
Owned at least one (ideally several) companies or products from zero to launch — your launch, not someone else's.
Elite operating discipline: annual → quarterly → monthly → weekly, tracked in ClickUp or equivalent, with blockers escalated early.
Authority without drama; clarity as kindness.
Signal judgment: you separate signal from noise instinctively and know the entrepreneur from the wantrepreneur.
AI-native: you use AI agents and agentic workflows to replace team-based work, not just to speed up your own.
Preferred Experience Venture studio, startup holding company, PE operating group, or other multi-entity experience.
Built or scaled a B2B SaaS company.
Recruited, hired, and managed founder-level talent (CEOs, EIRs).
Built or directed a company's digital presence and brand from scratch.
Founder with an exit, now wanting to operate at the portfolio level rather than found again.
Core Competencies Operating Rigor Cadence and systems that make execution predictable.
Calendar orchestration and early blocker escalation across leadership.
Venture Judgment Signal-to-noise reading on live ventures.
M0 / M1 / M2 gate discipline, earned progression, never momentum.
Leadership Gravitas Recruits and motivates founder-caliber talent.
Runs teams hard and clean, because clarity is kindness.
Fully remote.
No office, no commute, just you, the operating system, and wherever you do your best work.
This isn't about inheriting an established company.
It's about building and continuously evolving the operating system that future ventures will run on.
Core collaboration hours: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM PST , ensuring consistent overlap with the founding team.
Contractor engagement, paid in USD .
Full compensation details will be shared directly with shortlisted candidates.
6+ years of experience in startup operations, venture building, general management, or a comparable operating role, ideally spanning more than one company.
Direct, hands-on experience taking at least one company from zero to launch—not supporting someone else's launch, but owning it.
Strong working knowledge of AI tools and agentic workflows, with a track record of using them to replace team-based work, not just accelerate individual productivity.
Experience designing or operating a structured process for de-risking new initiatives—stage gates, funnel management, or comparable venture-building systems.
Hands-on experience managing execution across multiple workstreams, products, or business lines simultaneously without relying on a large team.
Experience reporting directly to a CEO or founder, with the judgment to identify and escalate risks early.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide concise, honest assessments of portfolio or business health.
Comfortable operating as an independent contractor, with compensation aligned to scope and impact rather than a traditional salary ladder.
HIGHLY PREFERRED Experience within venture studios, startup holding companies, private equity operating groups, or other multi-entity organizations.
Experience building or scaling a B2B SaaS company.
Experience implementing structured venture-building frameworks, including stage-gate models, venture operating systems, or similar methodologies.
Experience with AI agent orchestration, automation platforms, or building AI-native internal tooling.
Founder experience (successful exit or otherwise) and a desire to operate at the portfolio level rather than founding another company.
WHAT GREAT LOOKS LIKE Has built more than one company from zero and can clearly explain what changed with each experience.
Treats venture outcomes as personally owned rather than escalating responsibility upward.
Defaults to AI agents before requesting additional headcount.
Gives the CEO bad news early—before it becomes a crisis.
Can enforce a system rigorously while exercising sound judgment when the system alone isn't enough.
Builds only the team the portfolio has genuinely earned.
CANDIDATE SNAPSHOT Founder-minded operator with multiple zero-to-one experiences.
Fluent in AI as a core operating capability, not just a productivity tool.
Comfortable owning execution across a portfolio with significant autonomy.
Motivated by building, learning, and compounding impact rather than titles or hierarchy.
