<p><strong>Testing Equipment and Chemicals.</strong></p><p>Operate laboratory equipment only after receiving the required training and authorization.</p><ul><li><p>Perform routine inspection, cleaning and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.</p></li><li><p>Maintain equipment usage, maintenance, verification and calibration records as required by MIGS QMS procedures.</p></li><li><p>Report damaged, malfunctioning or out-of-calibration equipment immediately and ensure such equipment is not</p></li></ul><p>used until appropriately released.</p><ul><li><p>Monitor laboratory stocks of chemicals, reagents, consumables, spare parts and testing materials and report</p></li></ul><p>replenishment requirements.</p><ul><li><p>Prepare laboratory reagents and standard solutions according to approved procedures where required.</p></li><li><p>Ensure chemicals, samples and reagents are properly identified, labelled and stored in designated locations.</p></li><li><p>Maintain current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure they are readily accessible for chemicals used in the</p></li></ul><p>laboratory.</p><p>Maintain good housekeeping and ensure laboratory benches, equipment, work areas and chemical storage</p><br><p><strong>Laboratory Responsibilities.</strong></p><br><ul><li><p>Perform routine WBM, OBM and SBM laboratory testing in accordance with applicable API Recommended</p></li></ul><p>Practices, MIGS QMS procedures, approved test methods and product specifications.</p><ul><li><p>Prepare drilling and completion fluid formulations according to formulations and treatment schedules</p></li></ul><p>provided by the Lab Engineer, Laboratory Supervisor or Technical & R&D Manager.</p><ul><li><p>Perform routine QA/QC testing of incoming raw materials, finished products and customer or supplier</p></li></ul><p>samples against approved specifications and acceptance criteria.</p><ul><li><p>Assist with laboratory testing and evaluation of new, alternative and replacement products.</p></li><li><p>Assist Lab Engineers and supervisors with product evaluation, compatibility testing, formulation</p></li></ul><p>development, troubleshooting and R&D projects.</p><ul><li><p>Perform routine drilling-fluid tests including density, rheology, filtration, electrical stability, retort</p></li></ul><p>analysis, alkalinity, chloride, calcium/hardness and other applicable physical and chemical tests.</p><ul><li><p>Conduct HPHT and other specialized laboratory tests when trained, competent and authorized to operate</p></li></ul><p>the applicable equipment.</p><ul><li><p>Accurately record test conditions, observations, calculations and results on approved laboratory</p></li></ul><p>worksheets, databases or reporting systems.</p><ul><li><p>Immediately report unusual test results, product failures, equipment problems or deviations from</p></li></ul><p>specifications to the Lab Engineer or Laboratory Supervisor.</p><ul><li><p>Repeat or confirm laboratory tests when requested to verify results or investigate discrepancies.</p></li><li><p>Assist in preparation of laboratory fluids and samples required for field operations, tenders, customer</p></li></ul><p>evaluations and third-party laboratory testing.</p><ul><li><p>Prepare, package, label, document and dispatch chemical and fluid samples according to specifications and</p></li></ul><p>requirements provided by MIGS customers and applicable shipping requirements.</p><ul><li><p>Assist with corrosion-ring preparation, cleaning, weighing, measurement and recording of results as</p></li></ul><p>required.</p><ul><li><p>Maintain proper identification, traceability, storage and disposal of laboratory samples.</p></li></ul><br><p><strong>Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE)</strong></p><br><ul><li><p>Comply with MIGS Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and laboratory safety</p></li></ul><p>requirements.</p><ul><li><p>Review and comply with applicable Risk Assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Safety Data Sheets</p></li></ul><p>(SDS) and operating procedures before carrying out laboratory activities.</p><ul><li><p>Use the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to each laboratory activity.</p></li><li><p>Handle, store and dispose of chemicals, drilling fluids and laboratory waste in accordance with applicable</p></li></ul><p>QHSE and environmental requirements.</p><ul><li><p>Immediately report spills, unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents and other QHSE events through the</p></li></ul><p>applicable MIGS reporting systems, including CARE and HOC where required.</p><ul><li><p>Stop work and notify the Laboratory Supervisor or Technical & R&D Manager where an activity presents</p></li></ul><p>an immediate safety risk.</p><ul><li><p>Intervene appropriately when unsafe acts or conditions are observed and encourage safe working</p></li></ul><p>practices among colleagues.</p><ul><li><p>Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, inspections, audits and QHSE training as required.</p></li><li><p>Maintain all required technical and QHSE training and competency requirements relevant to the position</p></li></ul><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><p>Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Laboratory Technology or a related technical/scientific discipline. Experience: Preferably 3+ years of proven laboratory experience, and in operating laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous / hazardous substances (flammable liquids, corrosive, alkaline products, biohazards etc.), ideally within drilling fluids, oilfield chemicals, petroleum services, chemical manufacturing or a related industry. </p>
