<p>The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES), together with the Division of Engineering, Civil and Urban Engineering Program, at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a Post-doctoral Associate in the broad area of geotechnical engineering.</p><br><br>
<p><strong>Research Project:</strong></p><br><br>
<p>The successful candidate will contribute to a research project focused on the development, testing, and analysis of resilient geotechnical systems. The work will rely on centrifuge modeling, geotechnical laboratory testing, and complementary numerical simulations to improve understanding of soil behavior and geotechnical system performance for infrastructure, energy, and sustainability applications.</p><br><br>
<p><strong>The Post-Doctoral Associate will be expected to:</strong></p><br><br>
<p>Perform and interpret geotechnical laboratory tests to support the experimental program.</p><br><br>
<ul>
<li>Plan, design, conduct, and analyze centrifuge model experiments.</li>
<li>Contribute to the design and development of experimental setups and apparatus, with SolidWorks experience considered an advantage.</li>

<p>The Interdisciplinary Quantum Lab in the Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), UAE, invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position in Experimental Quantum Science. The successful candidate will pursue research spanning quantum optics, spin-based systems, and the design and construction of advanced experimental instruments. Applicants with a strong background in physics and an interest in developing new quantum measurement platforms are especially encouraged to apply.</p><br><br>
<p>The selected candidate will join a highly collaborative research environment and contribute to the development of optical and spin-control experiments, precision measurement systems, and custom scientific instrumentation. The position offers opportunities to work across disciplinary boundaries and to collaborate with faculty, researchers, and students in the lab as well as the asssociated research centers across NYUAD. <ul><li><p>Carry out onboard / on-site inspection of marine and industrial boilers, including refinery, power plants and heavy industries (water tube, smoke tube, exhaust gas boilers and economizers, WHRB &HRSG), assess the condition of tubes, headers, drums, refractory, casing and mountings and identify the root cause of failures.</p></li><li><p>Determine the most effective repair solution (retubing, partial renewal, plugging, refractory repair, pressure part fabrication, etc.) and prepare a clear, costed work scope with material take-off, manpower plan and timeline.</p></li><li><p>Prepare and submit technical proposals, method statements, risk assessments and repair procedures in line with class society (DNV/ABS/LR), client and HSE requirements.</p></li><li><p>Independently lead the site execution team - supervisors, boiler makers, welders, fitters and subcontractors - ensuring quality of workmanship, welding/NDT compliance and adherence to schedule.</p></li><li><p>Plan and control project cost: track manpower, materials, consumables and subcontract spend against the estimate, control variations and protect project margin.</p></li><li><p>Prepare and maintain all project documentation: internal job orders, daily progress reports, inspection/measurement records, NDT and hydrotest reports, variation orders and final service/completion reports for client and class.</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with Sales & Estimation on scope clarifications and variation pricing and with Purchase on timely material and consumable availability.</p></li><li><p>Attend joint inspections with client representatives, class surveyors and port/refinery authorities; close out punch lists and secure final acceptance.</p></li><li><p>Enforce HSE compliance at site, including confined space entry, hot work permits and toolbox talks.</p></li><li><p>Support emergency/breakdown call-outs and ship repair mobilizations at short notice.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Desired Candidate Profile</strong></p><ul><li><p>B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). </p></li><li><p>Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in marine and/or industrial boiler repair, ship repair or pressure part fabrication and erection.</p></li><li><p>Sound knowledge of boiler construction, welding processes (SMAW/GTAW), tube expansion, NDT methods and hydrostatic testing.</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of AutoCAD (preparation of repair sketches and as-built drawings) is an added advantage.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with class society rules and marine/industrial HSE standards.</p></li><li><p>Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) for reporting and cost tracking; strong written and spoken English.</p></li></ul>

<p>Your responsibilities:<br>First and foremost, support the overall, daily management of operational duties. This will mean deputizing for the Operations Manager, as and when required: you’ll step in on their behalf where necessary.<br>You will be expected to prioritize and continually improve the safety at the delivery station. You will be supervising logistics assistants, coordinators and delivery associates to ensure that every shipment is delivered meeting and exceeding the set operational KPIs.<br>You will be monitoring the coordinator and associate performance and coaching them when needed, partnering with supporting departments to improve logistics processes and operations, communicating with our delivery service providers to set our expectations and raise the bar on quality on their deliverables.<br>You will be expected to interview candidates for associate roles.<br>You will be responsible for briefing and monitoring the workload of all drivers and associates. Therefore, you’ll maintain a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all administrative tasks are accurately and fully completed. Moreover, you will measure and monitor overall workflows and daily metrics. This will enable you to assist the Operations Manager with tracking, trending and reporting on site performance, on a regular basis.<br>In addition to your day-to-day responsibilities, you will also help with training and mentoring new Associates, ensuring that they are provided with the knowledge needed to successfully carry out their tasks.
