AI Workflow Engineering Architect On-site | Abu Dhabi
Applied AI, founded in 2021, is a pioneering AI technology company headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE. We are committed to innovation and excellence in artificial intelligence solutions across regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, government, and financial services.
Our flagship platform, Opus, automates and supervises mission-critical, document-heavy processes with embedded governance, auditability, and human oversight. We help enterprises achieve measurable productivity gains while increasing operational reliability and trust.

Position Overview:
The AI Workflow Engineering Architect is the senior technical authority for the design and optimization of production workflows within Opus, with particular responsibility for ML-intensive and computationally demanding business processes.
The role establishes how Opus workflows should be engineered to achieve the required accuracy and reliability at the lowest practical inference cost and latency, using the capabilities available within Opus and supporting systems.
You’ll lead the technical development of Workflow Engineers through hands-on design work, architecture reviews, training, reference implementations and systematic analysis of production performance.
As the custodian of workflow engineering practice within Applied AI, you’ll be responsible for converting advances in ML and computer science, and lessons from production, into standards, methods and reusable engineering patterns across the team.

Key responsibilities:
Workflow architecture and optimization:
Lead the decomposition of business processes into efficient Opus workflow graphs, defining execution boundaries, dependencies, state, parallelism and failure paths. Formulate important workflow-design decisions as constrained optimization problems across accuracy, latency, throughput, inference cost and operational reliability, and establish the appropriate operating point rather than optimizing any metric in isolation.

Model architecture, selection and routing:
Establish the technical methods by which Workflow Engineers select and compose models within Opus. Design and review heterogeneous execution strategies including deterministic computation, specialist models, retrieval, model cascades, conditional routing, early exits and human review. Require model choice and routing decisions to be supported by measured error rates, calibrated confidence, workload characteristics and marginal inference economics.

Evaluation and experimental methodology:
Define the engineering standards by which Opus workflows are demonstrated to work. Establish representative test sets, business-weighted loss functions, component and end-to-end benchmarks, ablation methods, confidence intervals and regression thresholds. Ensure evaluation covers distribution shift, rare cases, correlated failures and high-cost errors rather than relying on aggregate model accuracy or successful demonstration cases.

Inference and systems performance:
Lead technical analysis of workflow execution cost and performance, including model inference, context construction, retrieval, serialization, network calls, concurrency and orchestration overhead. Establish methods for profiling and improving caching, batching, parallel execution, model size, quantization, context length and accelerator utilization. Require performance to be characterized under realistic concurrency using throughput, cost per successful execution and p50/p95/p99 latency.

Reliability and execution semantics:
Establish best practice for reliable Opus workflow execution, including typed interfaces, explicit state transitions, idempotency, checkpointing, bounded retries, timeouts, backpressure, compensation and partial-failure recovery. Apply techniques such as property-based testing, fault injection, deterministic replay and execution-trace analysis where appropriate. Ensure Workflow Engineers understand failure behaviour as an architectural property rather than something addressed after deployment.

Production measurement and continuous optimization:
Define how workflow performance is measured after deployment and how evidence from production feeds back into engineering decisions. Establish instrumentation connecting workflow versions, model and configuration choices, execution traces, errors, latency, inference consumption and business outcomes. Lead diagnosis of regressions and determine whether corrective action belongs in workflow structure, data, model choice, routing, context, software implementation or capacity.

Technical leadership and engineering capability: Develop Workflow Engineers into strong ML and computer-science practitioners capable of making these decisions independently. Lead difficult workflow designs, architecture reviews and technical post-mortems; maintain reference implementations, engineering standards and reusable Opus patterns; and train the team in optimization, evaluation, inference engineering and production ML. Act as the final technical custodian of workflow engineering best practice, progressively converting expert knowledge into a repeatable engineering discipline across Opus.

Required Skills:
Senior-level applied ML and software engineering background, with hands-on experience designing and operating production LLM/agentic systems (not research-only or prototype-only) Strong grounding in ML evaluation methodology and systems performance (latency, cost, concurrency) as engineering disciplines, not afterthoughts Distributed systems fundamentals: reliability, failure handling, and state management in production pipelines Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and setting technical standards, not just doing the work solo

Desirable Skills:
Experience with multi-model orchestration (routing, cascades, fallback across providers like Anthropic, Open AI, Gemini) Background in a regulated industry (healthcare, finance, insurance, BPO) Experience building engineering standards or a technical discipline from scratch in an early-stage environment Published writing, research, or patents on ML systems or inference optimization

What We Offer:
Opportunity to shape the marketing analytics strategy at a leading AI company. Exposure to cutting-edge AI/ML applications in real-world business contexts. Collaborative, innovative, and growth-driven work environment. Competitive compensation, benefits, and career advancement opportunities.
About Fasset
At Fasset, we believe your money should answer you. We are a banking and investment platform built around a simple idea: more people should have access to the financial system, regardless of where they live. We are building the global financial system for ownership, one that moves what you earn into what you own, so that what you can own is never decided by where you were born. We operate across emerging markets, with a particular focus on the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Founded by Mohammad Raafi Hossain and Daniel Ahmed, Fasset has raised more than $80 million and holds regulatory approvals across markets including the UAE, Indonesia, Malaysia, the EU, Türkiye and Pakistan. We are a fast-moving, global team scaling a regulated platform across multiple markets. Our culture runs on HEART: Humble Curiosity, Enthusiasm, Act Like Owners, Raise the Bar, and Tenacity. And we hold one simple view about the people who join us: the owners arrive early.
About the role
Own Fasset's growth product roadmap: referral, rewards, retention, and activation features, shipped with a dedicated engineering pod, measured against pre-agreed criteria, coordinated across all other product teams. What you inherit through the role is a committed H2 roadmap with dated releases: referral relaunch and affiliate program (August), rewards marketplace and mission center (September), pre-dormancy save flows (hard November date), win-back ladder, a recurring-execution rail that serves three future products, and a Q4 slate including round-ups into gold, a seasonal gifting mechanic with a fixed religious-calendar deadline, and a remittance corridor pilot. Underneath: a user state machine (8 states, 11 numbered edges) that sets priorities, and a metrics canon that sets definitions. You can change the plan if the data supports the change.
What you'll do
Ship the releases. Specs, sequencing, engineering coordination, QA handoff, release notes. Dates hold, or slip with advance notice. Several releases gate each other; two have external deadlines. Work against the state machine. Every initiative names the state transition it moves and the loop it feeds before it enters the roadmap. You know the current transition numbers and adjust the roadmap when they change. Pair with the Growth Analyst. Every release ships with pre-registered success criteria (target, guardrail, kill threshold, read date) agreed with the Analyst before launch. Post-reads happen on the read date. Kills execute when thresholds say so. The Analyst certifies numbers independently; you do not grade your own launches. Guard payout definitions. Referral, affiliate, and gifting features pay out on qualified user behavior, not raw counts. You design against gaming and abuse before launch. Coordinate growth work across pods. Cards, Earning, Lending, network, and market teams ship features that touch acquisition, activation, or retention. You keep a single view of growth-relevant releases company-wide, run a light cross-pod cadence, and catch overlaps before they ship. Prioritize marketing rails against feature work. The pod builds infrastructure marketing runs on: promo engine, deep links, segmentation, campaign onboarding paths. You sequence these against features. Run lifecycle mechanics until that seat is filled. Save flows, win-back ladders, and messaging journeys ship through the pod. You spec and oversee their operation in the interim. Drive user segmentation and journey experimentation. Build a scalable process leveraging Mixpanel to more granularly define our target users, their use cases and optimize their onboarding and engagement funnels.
What you'll bring
Must have You have shipped growth mechanics at a consumer fintech, crypto platform, marketplace, or high-volume consumer app: referral programs, incentives, onboarding flows, retention journeys. You have run a roadmap where releases gated each other. You can name a date you saved and a date you slipped, and the difference. You can look at a funnel and name the transition that matters most now, with numbers. You have worked beside an independent analytics function: pre-registered criteria, honest post-reads, features killed on their stated thresholds. You have coordinated across teams without authority over them and shipped anyway. Emerging-market or Islamic-finance product context is a strong plus. Our mechanics include gifting, gold, remittance corridors, and Shariah-reviewed features. Not fit for this role is Your portfolio is strategy and discovery without shipped mechanics. You need a blank page. This role inherits a dated plan. You treat measurement as post-launch reporting. You cannot explain how a feature you built was or would be gamed. Cross-team coordination reads to you as politics. Not a 100% match? We'd still love to hear from you. We hire for potential and HEART, not a checklist, so apply if the mission excites you.
What we offer Ownership from day one. High-trust, high-ownership culture where you get room to act like an owner and the support to raise the bar. Competitive pay, benchmarked across our markets and reviewed as you grow. A real path forward through Grow with Fasset (#GwF), our L1–L7 progression framework with both IC and Manager tracks. Global exposure working alongside a team spread across seven markets, solving problems that matter for emerging economies. Learning and development support to keep growing your craft.

At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. One customer experience that we're constantly looking to take to a new level is how we fulfill and deliver orders. Our goal is to exceed the expectations of all our customers. To meet this goal, Amazon is continually striving to innovate and provide best-in-class service levels through the introduction of pioneering new products and services in the last mile delivery space.
The MEATR (Middle East, Africa, and Turkey) Fleet organization is responsible for managing and growing Amazon's Last Mile Fleet across the region. We are seeking an exceptional Senior Manager to lead Fleet Strategy, Planning and Programs for the MEATR (Africa, Middle East, and Turkey) region—one of our fastest-growing and most dynamic markets.
In this pivotal role, you will be the strategic architect of MEATRs fleet operations, responsible for the complete fleet lifecycle from demand forecasting and procurement to operational excellence and partner experience. You'll leverage sophisticated analytical modeling to predict fleet requirements years in advance, drive operational excellence through data-driven insights, and ensure our Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) have the tools and support they need to succeed.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of Amazon's logistics capabilities in a high-growth region. You'll work at the intersection of strategy, operations, analytics, and partnership management—driving decisions that impact hundreds of millions of dollars in capital investments while building the foundation for sustainable growth.
The ideal candidate combines deep analytical capabilities with strong business acumen and exceptional stakeholder management skills. You'll need to be equally comfortable building sophisticated forecasting models, coaching operations teams on best practices, and presenting strategic recommendations to senior leadership. You'll thrive in ambiguity, design scalable solutions for emerging markets, and have a commitment to operational excellence and customer obsession.
This role requires approximately 30% travel across the MEATR region to build relationships, conduct operational assessments, and drive change management initiatives.
Key job responsibilities
1. Fleet Demand Planning & Forecasting
- Design and develop scalable fleet demand modeling to predict last mile van / size requirements across Africa, Middle East, and Turkey
- Create demand plans for multiple vehicle specifications (diesel/electric, long/short wheel base, specialized configurations) across long-term strategic (+3 years), medium-term tactical (12-18 months), and short-term operational (<12 months) planning horizons
- Consolidate input from diverse stakeholders to ensure fleet plans always consume the latest available assumptions and business strategies
2. Strategic Partnerships & Vendor Management
- Develop and execute strategic partnerships across the MEATR transportation ecosystem, focusing on long-term value creation with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), rental/leasing providers, upfitting vendors, maintenance service providers, and parts suppliers (in partnership with Global Fleet Procurement GFP organization)
- Identify and capitalize on commercial opportunities through market analysis, competitive benchmarking, cost optimization initiatives, multi-country fleet sharing, and alternative supply channels (e.g., used vehicle markets)
3. Network Capacity & Supply Chain Optimization
- Lead strategic initiatives to optimize network capacity across MEATR, balancing fleet supply and demand across stations, coordinating short-term deployment scheduling, and optimizing for seasonal demand variations
- Collaborate extensively with Finance business partners to ensure plans are efficient and meet peak demand requirements, drive efficient capital allocation (CAPEX), optimize operating expenses (OPEX), and develop Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models
- Develop innovative program management mechanisms to drive data-driven decision-making across make vs. buy vs. rent trade-offs, vehicle type mix optimization, asset utilization improvements, and investment prioritization
- Monitor and optimize key metrics to ensure smooth supply chain operations, addressing procurement lead times, parts availability, and cross-border logistics complexities unique to MEATR markets
4. DSP Partner Experience & Voice of Customer
- Establish and expand listening mechanisms to capture Delivery Service Partner feedback including regular surveys, sentiment analysis, focus groups, partner councils, operational data analysis, and direct engagement during station visits
- Analyze, report, and take action on customer feedback data to identify and drive opportunities to improve the level of service GFP offers to DSP partners, combining qualitative sentiment data with quantitative service benchmarking
- Identify and prioritize DSP pain points related to fleet operations including vehicle reliability, maintenance processes, administrative burden, cost transparency, and training gaps
- Develop and launch innovative programs and value-added services to improve DSP experience and productivity (e.g., preventive maintenance programs, roadside assistance, simplified processes, self-service tools, training materials)
- Measure DSP satisfaction through Net Promoter Score (NPS), program adoption rates, and qualitative feedback themes, with target improvements of +5 NPS points annually
- Collaborate with DSP Program teams across organizations to ensure fleet decisions consider partner impact, co-develop solutions to shared challenges, and maintain strong exchange of insights on partner needs
5. Executive Leadership & Cross-Functional Influence
- Own executive-level business reviews and strategic planning sessions, delivering data-driven insights and actionable recommendations to VP and senior leadership stakeholders
- Write and contribute to compelling business cases using information synthesized from multiple stakeholders, propose and obtain approval from functional leaders, and maintain project schedules that enable teams to succeed
- Take accountability while providing transparent status updates, proactively asking for help and immediately escalating issues and problems as necessary to remove blockers
6. Innovation & Strategic Initiatives
- Drive the transition to electrification by integrating Electric Vehicle (EV) planning into business-as-usual fleet requirement processes, considering charging infrastructure, range requirements, and total cost of ownership
- Extend Fleet Requirement Planning processes to new business customer organizations (e.g., Sub-same Day, DSP Lite) and new countries as MEATR expands, building replicable playbooks for rapid market entry
- Lead full life-cycle of complex cross-functional projects and programs with considerable impact across multiple organizations, working to understand business problems, automation limitations, scaling factors, and reasons behind leadership decisions
- Design solutions that can adapt to each MEATR market's unique maturity level, account for varying data availability and quality, work within local constraints, and maintain global standards while allowing regional flexibility
A day in the life
Your day will be dynamic, strategic, and highly impactful. You might start by reviewing overnight fleet utilization data across MEATR markets, identifying a pattern of underutilization in one country and overdemand in another—prompting you to coordinate a cross-border vehicle transfer. You'll join a strategic planning session with Finance to present your updated 18-month fleet forecast, defending your assumptions and securing approval for a significant vehicle procurement order.
Mid-morning, you'll dive into your forecasting model, adjusting parameters based on new network expansion plans shared by the Operations team, then run scenario analyses to understand the impact on CAPEX requirements.
After lunch, you might review DSP feedback survey results, identifying a recurring theme about maintenance delays. You'll brainstorm solutions with the maintenance vendor and draft a proposal for a new preventive maintenance program. You'll then prepare for your afternoon executive business review, creating visualizations that tell a compelling story about fleet performance trends and your strategic recommendations.
Late afternoon brings a call with regional fleet managers across Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey—you're coaching them on a new audit framework and gathering their input on local market dynamics that should inform your demand forecast. You wrap up your day by analyzing repair cost trends, identifying an opportunity to consolidate vendors and save on OPEX.
Throughout, you're the critical link ensuring our fleet remains reliable, safe, cost-efficient, and perfectly sized to meet customer demand—balancing analytical rigor with operational pragmatism and strategic thinking.
- 6+ years of account or relationship management, small business logistics, or retail/vendor/supplier management experience
- MBA
- 5+ years of supply chain management, planning, strategic sourcing, commodity management or program management experience
Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
