Structural Design & Calculation:Structural Integrity: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the structural design of E-House base frames, walls, roofs, and flooring systems to support heavy electrical equipment (switchgear, transformers, VFDs). Load Analysis: validate complex structural calculations, including dead and live loads, wind, snow, seismic, and transit/lifting loads. Lifting & Transportation: validate lifting lugs design and CoG calculations, rigging plans, and transportation strategies for heavy, oversized modular units. Code Compliance: Ensure all structural designs comply with international standards (e.g., AISC, ASCE, IBC, Eurocodes) and project-specific requirements.<br>2. Cooling, Ventilation & HVAC Design:Thermal Management: Perform precise heat load calculations factoring in electrical equipment heat dissipation, solar radiation, and extreme ambient temperatures. System Sizing & Selection: Design and specify industrial-grade HVAC systems, including DX units, chilled water systems, and redundant backup systems (N+1, N+2). Pressurization & Filtration: Design overpressure and ventilation systems to prevent the ingress of dust, moisture, and hazardous/corrosive gases into the E-House.<br>3. Fire Alarm & Suppression Systems:System Design: Validate/Design and specify complete fire detection (smoke, heat, gas) and suppression systems suitable for live electrical environments (e.g., Clean Agent systems like NOVEC 1230, FM-200, or Inergen). Integration: Support in validating the control logic and cause-and-effect matrices for fire safety, including the automatic shutdown of HVAC systems and closure of motorized fire dampers during a fire event. Compliance: Ensure all fire alarm and suppression systems strictly adhere to NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 72, NFPA 2001) and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements.<br>4. Cross-Functional Leadership & Project Execution:Coordination: Collaborate seamlessly with Electrical, Layout, and Control engineers to ensure clash-free integration of mechanical systems with electrical panels and cable routing. Vendor Management: Evaluate vendor technical bids for steel fabrication, HVAC equipment, and fire safety systems. The role focuses specifically on road engineering — covering geometry, alignment, pavement design, intersection design, and traffic-related infrastructure — ensuring that all submitted road designs meet project requirements, Abu Dhabi authority standards, and applicable codes of practice before approval for construction.<br><br>The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in road design within the UAE and Abu Dhabi context, with the ability to critically assess design packages, identify non-conformances, and drive timely resolution through the design consultant. Working knowledge of drainage principles is advantageous for coordination purposes.<br><br>Key Responsibilities<br><br>Roads Design Review & Verification<br><br>Review all road design submissions from the appointed consultant including drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports. Verify that road design solutions comply with Abu Dhabi DOT standards, applicable UAE codes, and project-specific requirements. Assess horizontal and vertical road geometry, sight lines, superelevation, and alignment for technical adequacy and authority compliance. Review intersection and junction designs, roundabout layouts, turning radii, and traffic management provisions. Evaluate pavement design reports, material specifications, and subgrade treatment recommendations. Review road cross-sections, kerb details, footpath and cycle track provisions, and road furniture layouts. Check signage, road marking, and wayfinding designs for compliance with DOT standards. Identify design deficiencies or non-conformances and prepare formal technical review comments for consultant response and close-out. Maintain a road design submission register and track review cycles, comment status, and approval milestones.<br><br>Authority & Compliance<br><br>Ensure road design submissions are aligned with DOT requirements, DM planning conditions, TASAREEH permit requirements, and any Miral/Yas Island-specific road standards. Provide technical input to support DOT NOC applications and authority review processes for road infrastructure. Stay current with Abu Dhabi road design manuals, geometric design standards, and Yas Island development requirements.<br><br>Construction Support<br><br>Review and comment on road construction shop drawings, contractor submittals, pavement mix designs, and method statements. Support resolution of technical queries (RFIs) and design clarifications related to road works during construction. Conduct periodic site visits to verify road construction is executed in accordance with approved designs and specifications.<br><br>Coordination & Reporting<br><br>Coordinate with the Drainage Design Engineer to ensure road and drainage designs are fully integrated and clash-free. Prepare and maintain design review logs, technical comment registers, and submission tracking reports.<br><br>Qualifications<br><br>Education<br><br>Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSc or BEng) from an accredited university — mandatory.
