Job Purpose: The Design & Technology Technician (Resistant Materials) supports the safe, effective and efficient delivery of practical learning within the Design & Technology department, with a primary focus on Resistant Materials, Product Design and workshop-based activities. The technician provides practical, technical and organisational support to staff and students, ensuring workshops, machinery, materials and resources are prepared, maintained and available to support high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stage 3, GCSE and Post-16. Key Responsibilities: Workshop Preparation and Technical Support ·Prepare workshops, machinery, tools, materials and resources for lessons and practical activities. ·Prepare timber, plastics, metals and other materials for student projects. ·Set out equipment, consumables and PPE required for lessons. ·Organise, store and manage student work, project materials and departmental resources. ·Support coursework, assessments, exhibitions and moderation activities. ·Prepare CAD/CAM files and materials for laser cutting, CNC routing and 3D printing. ·Support teachers and students during practical lessons and demonstrations. ·Assist students with manufacturing processes, prototyping, modelling, testing and evaluation. ·Reinforce safe working practices and workshop procedures.
