Build the function.
Be its first practitioner.
Zero models in production.
That is the honest starting line, and it is also the offer.
DigitalZone has the parts most companies are still fighting for: a unified warehouse, data engineering and analytics teams already running, and behavioural and transaction data from a digital goods business, a ticketing platform and a regulated trading venue.
What it does not have is a single model deciding anything.
Nothing scores fraud risk, nothing forecasts demand, nothing chooses what a customer sees next.
You are the first data science hire.
You will build the team, set how it works, and personally be the data scientist for Platform: payments, identity and marketing technology.
You report directly to the executive who owns Product and Data, so the distance between your finding and a decision is one conversation.
It also means there is nobody to hide behind when a model does not work.
The hard part Fraud in a cash-heavy market with agent networks and chargeback exposure does not sit still.
Your model will be adversarial from day one, and the threshold you set is a live tradeoff between loss prevented and customers blocked.
That call will be yours to make and yours to defend.
Identity is the other half.
Customer records arrive from several products and a partner login, and resolving them into one trustworthy profile is what makes personalisation, risk scoring and half the company's roadmap possible.
Nobody has done it yet.
What you'll do Build the function from one person to a team: charter, hiring, and the standard for how a model is specified, validated, shipped, monitored and retired.
Own fraud detection as a product: transaction and payment risk scoring, chargeback and refund abuse, account takeover, promo abuse, agent and merchant anomaly detection.
Set the thresholds with fraud and operations, and defend the loss-versus-friction tradeoff.
Own the modelling side of identity management: identity resolution and record linkage across sources, deduplication and match confidence, profile completeness scoring, and the unified customer profile that both personalisation and risk read from.
Drive the next-best-action and segmentation layer behind personalised customer communication.
Get models into production and keep them there, with the cloud team on serving and MLOps: monitoring, drift, retraining, rollback, and one measurable business outcome per model you are willing to be judged on.
Own the planning models: demand and stock forecasting, predictive budget, category and SKU level targets, churn and lifetime value.
Own experiment design across product and marketing: hypothesis, minimum detectable effect, decision rule, and honest readouts including the null ones.
Agree the boundary with data engineering and analytics.
It is not settled today.
Settling it is part of the job.
Bring stakeholders a decision, not a notebook.
Definitions come from the company metric contract, and an unvalidated figure does not become a fact by appearing in a deck.
Immediate, large-scale impact on a high-growth business Top-of-the-market compensation packages Work alongside top regional talent, with team members from Talabat, Careem, Etisalat, and more What you'll bring 7+ years in data science, 2+ leading or mentoring scientists.
Having been the first or second scientist somewhere counts double.
Models in production with a measured business outcome.
Hard requirement: live traffic, monitored, effect quantified.
A portfolio of notebooks is not this.
Fraud or risk modelling depth, plus at least one of: identity resolution and entity matching, forecasting, churn and lifetime value, personalisation, uplift modelling, causal inference.
Strong SQL against large transaction and event data in a columnar warehouse, strong Python, and code someone else can run next quarter.
Experimental and causal rigour, including quasi-experimental methods where randomisation is not possible.
Consumer fintech or payments fluency: transactions, funnels, cohorts, fraud patterns.
The ability to align product, engineering, marketing and commercial on one problem definition before any modelling starts.
AI-assisted working, with the rule that you never ship output you cannot explain.
Nice to have Built a data science function from zero, including the first hires and the first deployment path.
Fraud or payment risk in a market with cash-heavy behaviour, chargeback exposure or agent networks.
Identity graph, KYC or customer data platform experience.
MENA or emerging-market consumer data, with the data quality reality that comes with it.
Arabic. What we will not pretend There is no team yet, no serving infrastructure you can lean on, and no data science rubric to hide behind.
The first six months are you, a warehouse and a lot of stakeholder conversations.
What you get in return is a blank page at a company that has already decided models matter, and the rare chance to be judged on outcomes you defined yourself.
If you want to join a mature data science org, this is the wrong role.
If you want to be the reason one exists, apply.

Job Description

We're not hiring a security engineer to keep up with threats. We're hiring someone to make threats irrelevant before they become incidents.

We're looking for a Red Team Lead/Operator who thinks like an adversary, not an auditor. Someone who continuously emulates real-world attackers, challenges assumptions, and exposes the gaps that automated defenses miss. You'll lead offensive security operations across our infrastructure, applications, cloud, and people - turning every engagement into detections, automation, and resilience. The goal isn't to prove we can be breached. It's to make the platform smarter with every attack.

Why This Matters

Deriv's mission is Trading for Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime. Millions of traders across the globe, around the clock, across regulatory environments. At this scale, a misconfigured WAF rule or undetected lateral movement isn't a technical inconvenience - it's a trader's funds at risk and a regulator on the phone.

Our Security Operations team isn't defending a perimeter. We're protecting a living, distributed system that processes transactions 24/7. When the threat surface never sleeps, your detection and response capabilities can't either - which is exactly why we're embedding AI and automation at every layer of the security stack.

The Challenge

$600B moves through this platform every month. That kind of scale attracts real adversaries: state-sponsored crews, financially motivated groups, insiders. Not hypothetical threat models, actual ones, actively working against us.

That's the environment. Not a lab. Not a CTF. A live financial platform under real pressure, defended by a security org that runs its own incident response instead of reading about breaches in the news.

We need someone who can operate like the people already trying to get in. Full kill chain, no shortcuts, no "we found SQLi and called it a day" energy.

If your idea of a challenging week is a scoped web app pentest with a checklist, this isn't for you. If you want to run against cloud, identity, source code, and now AI agents with tool access and memory, keep reading.

Why Deriv

We already run our own incident response and purple-team our findings straight into detections, not a compliance exercise, an active discipline with real fallout when it's wrong. Our security org is starting to red-team AI agents with tool access and memory, work most companies haven't figured out how to even scope yet. You'll get hands-on production experience that would take far longer to accumulate at a single-product company.

We share what we learn. Deriv is where we write about what we're building, what breaks, and what we figure out the hard way.

What You’ll Do

Plan and execute full-kill-chain red team engagements: initial access, privilege escalation, lateral movement, persistence, and objective completion, mapped to MITRE ATT&CKDesign and run social engineering and physical/insider threat simulations, informed by real-world TTPsAttack cloud environments, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, identifying misconfigurations and privilege escalation paths before real attackers do Conduct source code analysis and application-layer exploitation against trading, payments, and internal platforms Red-team our AI agent stack: prompt injection, tool-calling abuse, agent-to-agent trust boundaries, and credential exposure in agentic workflows Build and maintain custom tooling, C2 infrastructure, and payloads that evade modern detection stacks Write engagement reports and executive summaries that lead to actual remediation, not shelf-ware Partner with SOC and Threat Hunting to run purple-team exercises, closing detection gaps you exploited Mentor L1/L2 operators and contribute to the offensive security capability roadmap

Who You Are

6+ years doing actual offensive security. Full-scope red team, not a string of scoped pentests OSCP required. OSCE, OSEP, OSED, CRTO or equivalent adversary simulation cert gets you a real look Real depth in at least three of: internal AD/network exploitation, cloud attack paths (AWS/GCP), web/API exploitation, custom C2 development, social engineering/physical, mobile You can write your own tooling and implants in Python, Go, or Rust. Not just running Cobalt Strike out of the box You've operated against modern EDR-instrumented environments and know what it actually takes to not get caught You understand blast radius in a regulated fintech and know how to break things without breaking the business You can write a report that gets fixed, not filed

The Honest Reality

You'll sit inside a Security & AI Engineering org that treats offensive security as a real discipline, not a line item for the compliance audit.

You'll work across Dubai and Malaysia with a team that runs actual incident response, not tabletop exercises with fake scenarios.

You'll have a direct line from finding a hole to it getting closed, and room to build the tooling and run the engagements that shape how we red-team the AI agents everyone else is still figuring out how to even think about.

Job Details

Role Level: Mid-Level Work Type: Full-Time Country: United Arab Emirates City: Dubai Company Website: https://www.deriv.com/careers Job Function: Information Technology (IT) Company Industry/

Sector: Other

What We Offer

About The Company

Searching, interviewing and hiring are all part of the professional life. Who We Are

NEXT Ventures is a global fintech group powering Funded Next — one of the world's fastest-growing proprietary trading platforms — and FNmarkets, a regulated CFD brokerage. Across offices in Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Cyprus, and Dubai, we build and operate the technology that lets traders access global markets at scale. Our Platform Engineering team owns the infrastructure, reliability, and observability backbone that every product squad depends on.

Your Role in Our Mission

As our Database Reliability Engineer, you are the specialist who ensures our data layer never becomes the bottleneck. You own database performance, archiving pipelines, caching reliability, and BC/DR for the data tier that underpins all Funded Next services. Working within the Platform Engineering squad, you execute the scaling and optimization initiatives designed by the squad lead — and you are the reason our databases stay fast, durable, and cost-efficient as trading data and traffic grow.

How You'll Make An Impact

Data Performance & Scalability

Execute database optimization and scaling initiatives — implement partitioning strategies, sharding schemes, and replication configurations; independently diagnose and fix slow queries across the platform. Own performance diagnostics on high-volume tables — EXPLAIN plan analysis, index tuning, buffer cache hit-ratio investigation, lock contention, and replication lag on 100M+ row tables. Build and maintain data archiving pipelines — move historical records (trade logs, transaction data, audit trails) from production tables to cold storage (S3/Parquet/Athena/Glacier) while preserving query access for compliance and reporting. Implement and maintain data lifecycle automation — TTL policies, scheduled archival jobs, partition rotation, and retention enforcement. Conduct regular performance profiling across the data tier — identify bottlenecks in MySQL/Postgre SQL and the caching layer, then implement measurable fixes. Support load testing and capacity planning for the data layer — analyze growth trends, identify breaking points, and implement fixes before traffic growth causes production issues.

Data Reliability & Infrastructure

Implement and maintain data-tier BC/DR infrastructure — multi-AZ deployments, read replicas, Aurora Global Database/cross-region replication, backup schedules, and failover triggers targeting RTO/RPO under 5 minutes; participate in regular DR drills. Implement and maintain caching strategies (Redis, Elasti Cache) — cache invalidation logic, read-through/write-behind patterns, TTL hygiene, and cache hit-rate monitoring. Define and track reliability metrics (SLIs/SLOs) for the data layer — query latency, availability, replication health — and drive improvements against them. Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability for the data tier — dashboards, slow-query alerting, and replication/cache health monitoring targeting fast MTTD on data incidents. Maintain and improve database-level automation — stored procedures, dynamic partitioning scripts, and scheduled maintenance jobs.

Cross-Team Support

Collaborate with application and product squads to design schemas, indexes, and access patterns that scale. Remediate data-related security findings from the Cyber Security Squad — implement fixes and verify through retesting. Write and maintain infrastructure-as-code for data resources — Terraform or equivalent for reproducible, version-controlled provisioning. Document runbooks, archiving procedures, and operational guidance so any engineer can respond to data-tier incidents with clear guidance.

What You Bring

4–6 years of professional engineering experience, with at least 2 years in database-focused infrastructure work at moderate-to-high scale. Strong expertise in MySQL and Postgre SQL — EXPLAIN plan analysis, index design, partitioning, sharding, and replication setup — with direct experience on 100M+ row tables. Able to build data archiving pipelines to cold storage (S3/Parquet/Athena/Glacier) while keeping records queryable for compliance and reporting. Proficient with AWS managed database services — RDS and Aurora — including provisioning, read replicas, parameter group tuning, and monitoring; Aurora Global Database experience is a plus. Hands-on with Redis and Elasti Cache — cache invalidation patterns, TTL hygiene, hit-rate monitoring, and incident diagnosis. Automates archival, maintenance, and diagnostic work using Python and/or Bash. Familiar with monitoring and observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar) for slow-query alerting, dashboards, and data-tier incident analysis. Understands multi-AZ and cross-region DR architectures, backup strategies, and failover triggers targeting RTO/RPO under 5 minutes. Comfortable writing Terraform or Cloud Formation to provision data resources in a version-controlled, reproducible way. Can write and debug stored procedures and dynamic partitioning logic for database-level automation. Evidence-driven — profiles and measures before guessing; validates every optimization against before/after data. Performance-oriented — treats data-tier latency as a first-class reliability problem, not a tuning afterthought. Good communicator — works with product squads to shape schemas and access patterns, and explains data constraints clearly.

X-Factor: AI-Native Engineering

You actively use modern AI agentic workflows daily — not limited to Copilot autocomplete. You are proficient with Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or equivalent tools. You are comfortable with project-level AI configuration (CLAUDE.md, rules files), agentic task delegation, and AI-driven code review. You think in terms of 5–10x productivity through AI-augmented development — and you can demonstrate it.

Your Journey After Applying

Stage 1 — TA Interview Stage 2 — Screening Questionnaire Stage 3 — Hiring Manager Interview Stage 4 — Head of IT Interview

Why Join NEXT

Work on data challenges at real scale — 100M+ row tables, 1TB+ databases, high-frequency trading transaction volumes. A team that treats database performance and data-tier reliability as first-class engineering problems, not DBAs on the side. Flat structure — your work directly shapes the platform's data infrastructure, not filtered through layers of process. Offices across Bangladesh, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Cyprus, and Dubai — a genuinely global engineering team. Competitive compensation benchmarked to your market, with room to grow as the team scales.

Experience level: Senior

Location: North America Remote/SF-Hybrid

Full-Time

About Andromeda

Andromeda Cluster was founded by Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross to give early-stage startups access to the kind of scaled AI infrastructure once reserved only for hyperscalers.

We began with a single managed cluster — but it filled almost instantly. Since then, we’ve been quietly building the systems, network, and orchestration layer that makes the world’s AI infrastructure more accessible.

Today, Andromeda works with leading AI labs, data centers, and cloud providers to deliver compute when and where it’s needed most. Our platform routes training and inference jobs across global supply, unlocking flexibility and efficiency in one of the fastest-growing markets on earth.

Our long-term vision is to build the liquidity layer for global AI compute. We are expanding to new frontiers to find the brightest that work in AI infrastructure, research and engineering.

The Role

This is not a generalist SRE role, and it is not a support role. You will embed directly with the teams running large-scale training and inference on our clusters. You are responsible for onboarding them, tuning their jobs, and debugging their failures alongside them, while owning the infrastructure and automation that makes those clusters reliable in the first place.

Forward deployed means you spend real time inside customer environments: reading their training code, sitting in their Slack channels, watching their runs, and shipping fixes that land in our platform. When a multi-hundred-GPU run stalls, you are the person who figures out whether it's the fabric, the driver, the scheduler, or their dataloader, then you make sure it can't happen the same way twice.

We're looking for engineers who have personally run GPU clusters in production, understand the failure modes of distributed training, and can reason about performance from network fabric → kernel → framework. Equally important: you can explain what you found to someone else's engineering team without condescension, and turn that conversation into a product improvement.

What You’ll Do

Serve as the primary technical point of contact for teams running large-scale training and inference workloads. Own onboarding end to end; environment setup, orchestration choice (Slurm, Kubernetes, or direct SSH), storage layout, first successful run at scale. You will continue to stay engaged as their workloads grow. Work inside customer environments to diagnose real failures: NCCL timeouts, stragglers, checkpoint I/O stalls, degraded links, OOM patterns, container and driver mismatches. Read their code when you need to. Reproduce, isolate, fix, and write it down. Profile and improve distributed training performance on live workloads. Improving MFU, cutting idle GPU time, and reducing time-to-first-successful-run for new deployments. Own reliability outcomes for the accounts you're deployed on. Ensure the health and performance of high-speed interconnects (Infini Band, RoCE, NVLink) that underpin distributed training. Diagnose and resolve fabric-level issues that degrade collective operations. Build deep visibility into GPU utilization, memory pressure, interconnect throughput, job performance, and hardware health. Turn every repeated deployment problem into automation: cluster provisioning, GPU health checks and burn-in, preflight validation, self-healing, firmware/driver lifecycle management, and reusable reference configurations for common training and serving stacks. Lead incident response for complex, multi-layer failures spanning hardware, networking, orchestration, and ML frameworks. Own the customer-facing communication during the incident and the blameless postmortem and systemic fix after it. You will see our rough edges before anyone else does. Bring that signal back to influence the roadmap, file the hard bugs, and build the missing pieces yourself when that's the fastest path.

What We’re Looking For

Hands-on experience operating GPU clusters in production (NVIDIA A100/H100/H200/B200 or equivalent). You understand GPU memory hierarchies, ECC behavior, thermal throttling, and hardware failure modes from direct experience. Production experience with Infini Band, RoCE, or NVLink fabrics in the context of distributed training. You can diagnose why an all-reduce is slow, identify a degraded link in a fat-tree topology, and reason about congestion control at scale. Working knowledge of how large training and inference jobs actually run. You don't need to design models, but you need to understand what's happening at the systems level when a large run stalls. Expert-level Linux experience: kernel tuning, driver management (NVIDIA drivers, CUDA toolkit), cgroup/namespace internals, container runtimes, and performance profiling at the syscall and hardware level. Strong experience running Kubernetes in production with GPU workloads. Experience with device plugins, topology-aware scheduling, multi-cluster, custom operators. Experience with Slurm or other HPC schedulers is equally valued. Strong engineering skills in Python, Go, or Bash. You build production-grade tools and services, not just scripts. Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency (Terraform, Helm, Ansible, or equivalent).

Hands-on experience building monitoring and alerting for GPU-specific telemetry (DCGM, nvidia-smi, fabric manager metrics) integrated into actionable dashboards. You can go deep on architecture with a customer's infra team and clearly articulate tradeoffs to their leadership.
