Irwin & Dow is partnering with a highly respected Dubai-based organisation to appoint an Manager to lead its Financial Crime Risk team — a senior role for an experienced risk or compliance leader ready to take ownership of strategy, people, and high-stakes regulatory decisions.
Leading a team of 8–10, you will be responsible for executing the team’s supervisory work plan and ensuring a risk-based, proportionate approach across all financial crime risk activity — including AML/CFT and targeted financial sanctions oversight. You’ll act as the team’s technical authority, providing guidance on complex financial crime matters, while also stepping in to lead in your Director’s absence.
This role sits close to the centre of decision-making. You’ll contribute directly to strategic planning and policy development, oversee regulatory projects from inception to delivery, and represent the organisation in engagement with senior executives, boards, and international regulatory counterparts. Where past international standard-setting work, FATF assessments, or national risk evaluations are part of your background, that experience will be highly valued here.
People leadership is core to the role, not an add-on: you’ll set objectives, manage performance, and actively develop your team — including supporting graduate and intern development programmes — while building the kind of open, high-trust culture that holds up under regulatory scrutiny.

We’re looking for candidates with 10+ years of regulatory, compliance, or risk management experience, ideally including at least two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity, gained within a financial services regulator or a regulated entity. A relevant Bachelor’s degree is required (postgraduate study or certifications such as ACAMS, CFA, FRM, or PRM are a strong plus), along with strategic thinking, sound judgement under pressure, and the presence to deliver difficult messages to senior stakeholders when needed.

Building the Future of Open Finance

Payward - the parent company behind Kraken, Ninja Trader, Breakout, x Stocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks - has spent the last 15 years building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms in the industry, built to advance an open, global financial system.

Before you apply, we encourage you to explore our culture page to understand what drives us and how we work.

The team

Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. It offers spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services, with products built for both individual investors and institutional clients.

The Consumer Mobile team builds the Kraken app, the interface millions of people use to interact with their money. We work in React Native and care deeply about how the product feels, not just whether it functions. A trade confirmation should feel instantaneous. A portfolio should feel alive. Navigation should feel effortless. These details directly impact trust, and trust is everything in crypto.

The opportunity

Most companies treat design and engineering as two practices that translate to each other. We're hiring someone who treats them as one craft. The translation step is where most products lose what makes them feel good.

You'll own the feel of the Kraken app: the half-second a trade confirms, the way a chart loads, how a sheet rises from the bottom of the screen and lands where it physically should. On a product where people move their savings, moments like that build trust.

This is a mobile-first role on a React Native codebase. We work in Reanimated and Skia, bridge to native when we need to, and sweat the split between the JS thread and the UI thread.

Own the motion and interaction layer of the Kraken app. Easing, springs, gestures, transitions, haptics, sound. The perceptual surface from cold start to confirmation. Evolve the mobile design system. You'll own the components other engineers reach for (gesture handlers, transition primitives, animated containers, motion tokens) and the standards that govern them. Partner closely with product designers, challenging and elevating motion and interaction design from concept through implementation Profile and optimise rendering performance, especially on lower-end Android devices where frame drops are unforgivable Contribute to architectural decisions that affect UI responsiveness: state management, render cycles, and data flow into the view layer Raise the bar for what 'great' means across the mobile org by review, by example, and by writing the patterns that make doing the right thing easier than doing the wrong thing.

What You Bring

A portfolio. A demo reel, a personal site, a Git Hub of interaction sketches, screen captures of work you've shipped that you're proud of. We don't care which format; we care that we can see your craft. Deep React Native fluency. You know Reanimated well enough to argue with people about it. You've fought gesture handlers. You've profiled JS thread vs. UI thread work and won. You can read a frame timeline and tell us where the time went. Taste in motion. You have opinions about easing curves. You notice when a spring is over-damped. You can articulate why a transition feels wrong before you know how to fix it. Product judgment. You can take a half-formed brief, find the actual problem inside it, and ship something better than what anyone thought to ask for. You shape what the spec should have been rather than wait for it to arrive. AI tools as part of how you work. Cursor, Copilot, Claude, whatever your stack is. You use them to move faster on the parts that aren't the craft so you can spend longer on the parts that are. Written and verbal English. We're globally distributed and live in docs and async threads.

Nice to have

React Native Skia, shader work, or custom canvas-based rendering for non-standard UI. Real native experience. Enough Swift or Kotlin to write a bridge module, and enough platform knowledge to know when one's the right call. A motion library, design-system contribution, or interaction primitive set that other engineers picked up and used. A visual or motion design background. You prototype in Figma, After Effects, or on paper before (or instead of) writing code. High-stakes product experience in fintech, trading, health, or anywhere UI precision is load-bearing.

Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.

We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.

Our commitment

Payward is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate the diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions, and unique perspectives that everyone brings to the table. We hire based on merit, seeking out people with the right abilities, knowledge, and skills for the job. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgeable about crypto.

We may ask candidates to complete job-related skills or work-style assessments as part of our hiring process. These assessments evaluate competencies relevant to the role and are applied consistently across candidates for similar positions. Results are considered alongside experience and interviews, and are not the sole basis for any employment decision.

As an equal opportunity employer, we don't tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind, whether based on race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, citizenship, religion, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, state, or local laws.

Stay connected

Follow us on Twitter

Learn on the Kraken Blog

Connect on Linked In

Candidate Privacy Notice

The Seat You are not here to check in, chase updates, or run sessions by script.
You are here to walk into the most complex, high-stakes client situations in the business — diagnose what is actually broken, reset the relationship, and drive outcomes that protect both the client and the company.
This is a Special Operations seat.
That means you get the cases no one else can close, the clients closest to the edge, and the expectation that you figure it out — fast, professionally, and without needing to be managed through it.
In the early weeks you will be close to the ground — understanding the client base, reading the risk signals, and getting a clear picture of what is working and what is not.
That proximity is the input.
The outcomes you drive from it are the job.
You report into senior leadership.
You own your cases.
You own the results.
The Company AI Acquisition is a multi-8-figure business helping founders and operators scale with AI.
3,000+ clients.
200+ mastermind participants.
A sales and delivery engine built for speed and scale.
Growth is happening faster than most companies ever see.
This seat exists because the client base is scaling, the complexity per account is rising, and we need someone senior enough to operate at the intersection of retention, strategy, and commercial recovery — without hand-holding.
What You Get Competitive compensation tied directly to retention, recovery, and expansion outcomes you own Fully remote — US, UK, UAE, Canada, or Australia Full-time, stable role at a profitable bootstrapped company — no runway anxiety, no pivots every quarter Direct line to senior leadership that has built and scaled products past $100M in revenue Real growth track — perform in this seat and the scope expands: team lead, broader Special Operations ownership, or a cross-functional senior role What You Actually Do Own the hardest client situations: Take full ownership of complex, escalated, or high-risk client accounts — from first signal through to resolution — applying structured thinking at every stage Diagnose the root cause behind every at-risk engagement: is it strategy, execution, expectation misalignment, or delivery failure — and build the right intervention accordingly Lead high-stakes conversations at founder and C-suite level — resetting expectations, rebuilding trust, and redirecting momentum toward outcomes Maintain meticulous case records that support accountability, continuity, and pattern recognition across the portfolio Drive retention and commercial recovery: Monitor engagement health signals across your assigned accounts and intervene before situations deteriorate into formal escalations Develop targeted recovery plans that address root causes — not surface-level complaints — and execute them at pace Identify and close expansion opportunities inside at-risk accounts where trust has been rebuilt and appetite exists Track and report weekly on case outcomes, revenue protected, churn signals, and patterns requiring broader operational attention Operate as a senior advisor, not just a handler: Lead live advisory sessions with founders — providing direct, implementation-focused guidance across offer, outbound, pipeline, and execution where relevant Advise on go-to-market strategy, offer positioning, and 90-day execution priorities when clients need more than just relationship management Challenge assumptions, reframe thinking, and reset timelines with the kind of directness that only comes from someone who has seen these situations before Act as a signal amplifier between clients and internal delivery teams — translating client reality into structured, actionable feedback Build what scales: Contribute to the development of escalation frameworks, retention playbooks, and client risk systems that work beyond your individual caseload Identify patterns across accounts that point to broader delivery or operational gaps requiring intervention at leadership level Propose and implement process improvements that reduce escalation volume, resolution time, and repeat risk over time Requirements Experience 5+ years in client success, account management, consulting, or a senior operational role within a high-growth, agency, or tech-enabled environment Proven track record managing complex, escalated, or high-risk client accounts with demonstrable recovery and retention outcomes Prior experience operating at or advising founder/C-suite level — not just executing, but influencing decisions under pressure Background in at least one of: growth strategy, sales systems, offer development, delivery operations, or scaling advisory Direct exposure to cold outbound, go-to-market execution, or B2B sales systems — enough to advise clients credibly, not just manage them Skills & Competencies Strong diagnostic ability — able to rapidly identify root causes across strategy, execution, expectation, and delivery Structured thinker with the ability to build and enforce clear action plans, priorities, and accountability frameworks Confident communicator with high emotional intelligence — able to reset expectations, manage difficult conversations, and maintain trust under pressure Expert-level negotiation and de-escalation — navigates emotionally and commercially charged situations with composure and precision Commercially sharp — understands pricing, business models, and the downstream impact of every client decision High executive presence — equally effective on a live Zoom with a frustrated founder as in a written case summary to leadership Meticulous documentation discipline — maintains thorough records that support continuity, risk management, and process improvement Mindset & Behavioural Fit Senior ownership mentality — operates independently, takes full accountability for outcomes, and doesn't wait to be managed Comfortable in ambiguity and fast-moving environments — adapts quickly without losing structure or composure Solutions-oriented under pressure — approaches escalations with clarity and a bias toward resolution, not escalation AI-native or highly AI-fluent — actively uses AI tools to enhance output quality, response speed, and documentation efficiency Discreet, professional, and exercises sound judgment in sensitive, confidential, and commercially significant situations Proactive risk detector — spots churn and engagement signals early and acts before situations deteriorate You Will Probably Not Fit If: You need a calm, predictable caseload with clear escalation paths above you You are a strong advisor in structured environments but lose composure when clients push back hard You measure success by sessions delivered, not by commercial outcomes protected You are more comfortable executing a playbook than writing one You need significant ramp time before taking ownership of live, high-stakes situations You are looking for a traditional CSM or account management role — this is not that
