Role Description A Food Quality Manager is responsible for leading and managing food quality assurance, food safety, quality control, regulatory compliance, auditing, supplier quality, and continuous improvement activities across food production, processing, packaging, storage, and distribution operations. The role ensures that products consistently meet internal quality standards, customer specifications, food safety requirements, and applicable regulatory standards while promoting a strong culture of food safety and quality throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the organization's food quality assurance and food safety programs. Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve food quality management systems. Establish product specifications, quality standards, inspection procedures, testing requirements, and quality-control criteria. Oversee quality-control activities from raw material receiving through production, packaging, storage, and distribution. Monitor raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, work-in-progress, and finished products for compliance with approved specifications. Implement and maintain HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, prerequisite programs, and other applicable food safety systems. Monitor critical control points (CCPs), food safety hazards, sanitation programs, allergen controls, temperature controls, and process-control measures. Lead routine quality inspections, product sampling, laboratory testing, process verification, and product evaluations. Review microbiological, chemical, physical, sensory, and other laboratory test results and take appropriate action when deviations are identified. Investigate customer complaints, product defects, food safety incidents, non-conformities, and quality deviations. Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) programs. Manage internal, supplier, customer, certification, and regulatory audits. Prepare for regulatory inspections and ensure timely closure of audit findings and non-conformities. Oversee product release, product hold, rejection, rework, withdrawal, and recall processes where applicable. Establish and maintain effective product traceability, batch control, recall, and withdrawal systems. Monitor supplier quality and conduct supplier evaluations, audits, approvals, and performance reviews. Work closely with procurement to ensure raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and suppliers meet quality and food safety requirements. Coordinate with production, warehouse, logistics, maintenance, R&D, procurement, and operations teams to resolve quality and food safety issues. Develop, review, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, specifications, inspection forms, and food safety documentation. Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, audits, non-conformities, corrective actions, complaints, and quality performance. Prepare quality reports, dashboards, KPIs, trend analyses, management reports, and performance reviews. Monitor quality and food safety trends and identify recurring issues, risks, and improvement opportunities. Lead quality and food safety training programs for production, warehouse, logistics, and other employees. Promote employee awareness of food hygiene, sanitation, GMP, HACCP, allergen management, and food safety requirements. Support new product development, product trials, process validation, shelf-life studies, and product approval activities.
