Our group uses a variety of model systems to understand the evolutionary processes leading to adaptation to the environment as well as the evolution of phenotypes. The successful candidate will pursue research spanning quantum optics, spin-based systems, and the design and construction of advanced experimental instruments. Responsibilities include developing habitat characterization workflows using combinations of bathymetric datasets, side-scan sonar, remotely sensed imagery, GIS, and other spatial datasets to produce habitat maps, ecological indicators, habitat suitability assessments, and spatial decision-support products.</p><br><br> <p>The Post-Doctoral Associate will collaborate closely with project staff to design field campaigns, develop sampling strategies, participate in marine field surveys, and ensure the effective integration of environmental, biological, and spatial datasets. <h2 class="h5">Job description</h2> <div class="t-break" data-jb-field="description"> <p>The Shubeita laboratory in the program of Physics, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate or Associate Research Scientist to work on unravelling principles that drive cellular organization.</p><br><br> <p>The successful applicant will lead research projects to study the interplay between active cytoskeletal transport, cytoskeletal organization, and the physical driving forces of macromolecular crowding. Research will take place within a multidisciplinary group of Post-doctoral and Pre-doctoral researchers trained in physics, biology, and chemistry with whom the successful candidate will collaborate closely.</p><br><br> <p>Applicants must have a PhD in physics or biological physics. Excellent analytical skills are required and prior experience in soft matter or biological physics research is preferable. The project will explore both the grammar and processing of long- distance dependencies in Jamaican Creole (among other phenomena). The successful applicant will work with the PI to design the experiments, develop the language materials, recruit participants (native speakers of Jamaican Creole), analyze the results, and prepare publications. The candidate will also work with the PI and other members of the lab on any associated administrative tasks that help facilitate the project.</p><br><br> <p>Applicants must have completed a BA in Psychology at NYUAD, with any level of experience, or a master’s degree with less than 5 years of research experience. have taken PSYCH-UH 2218 Language Science and PSYCH-UH 3612EQ Lab in Language Science, and have completed training on acceptability judgment experiments and EEG and/or MEG.
