Company Description

Talabat is part of the Delivery Hero Group, the world’s pioneering local delivery platform, our mission is to deliver an amazing experience—fast, easy, and to your door. We operate in around 65 countries worldwide. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany. Delivery Hero has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2017 and is part of the MDAX stock market index.

Job Description

Role Summary

This role owns the commercial and performance engine behind talabat UAE's operations. You'll be the person who understands how the business actually ticks, where margin is made or lost, which levers move the numbers, and what trade-offs leadership is really weighing. You'll own the operational commercials and KPI performance, drive the optimization work that improves efficiency and experience, and turn analysis into decisions. It's a role for someone equally comfortable in a model and in a room full of directors, someone who can read the data and stand their ground on what it means.

What's on your plate?

1. Commercial & P&L Ownership for Operations
Own the commercials behind UAE operations, cost-per-order, rider cost, and the efficiency metrics that drive the operational P&L. Track budget vs. actuals, protect riders and 3pls earnings, and give leadership clear, data-backed trade-offs between cost, growth, and customer experience. You're the person who can explain why the numbers moved, not just that they did.

2. Performance Management
Own the UAE operational KPI stack, from forecast to actuals. Anticipate performance gaps before they hit the P&L and drive the interventions that close them. Run the reporting and executive reviews that keep leadership decision-ready.

3. Operational Optimization
Drive the optimization agenda across the network: rider economics and staffing efficiency, vendor and coverage performance, area-level improvements. Find where the operation leaks cost or time, size the opportunity, and lead the fix, balancing efficiency against rider earnings and customer experience.

4. Data, Modeling & Insight
Be genuinely good with data, able to interrogate complex models, understand what's driving them, and pressure-test assumptions rather than take outputs at face value. Build the analyses and dashboards that make decisions faster, and translate complexity into a clear "so what." SQL (BigQuery) and Looker/Tableau are a strong plus; the non-negotiable is analytical judgment.

5. Strategic Projects & Senior Stakeholder Leadership
Lead cross-functional, high-impact projects that shape UAE operations. Build the business case, run the pilot, scale what works. Throughout, work directly with senior leadership, and hold your own with directors and VPs, defending a recommendation with evidence and staying credible under challenge.

What you own vs. influence: You own the operational commercials, the performance KPI stack, and the delivery of your optimization projects. You influence the ops, commercial, and product teams whose execution moves those numbers, through insight, credibility, and stakeholder trust rather than direct authority.

Qualifications

What did we order?

At least 4 years in operations, commercial, strategy, or consulting, ideally in a marketplace, logistics, or Q-commerce environment.

Commercial instinct: you understand how a business makes money and which levers actually move it.

Strong data literacy, comfortable working with complex data and models, interrogating assumptions, and drawing the right conclusion. You don't need to be handed the answer.

Executive presence: able to engage, challenge, and stand your ground with senior stakeholders including directors and VPs.

Financial modeling and P&L fluency, you can read a model, break it, and explain it.

SQL (BigQuery) and Looker/Tableau a strong plus, not a requirement.

Bias for ownership and follow-through, you close the loop rather than hand off the problem.

Readiness to grow into people leadership (1–2 reports over time).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Commercial Performance & P&L Management

Own the end-to-end commercial performance of the e-commerce business, with accountability across revenue, conversion rate (CVR), average order value (AOV), and margin health. Partner with Finance to manage the P&L, identifying levers to drive top-line growth without compromising profitability. Work closely with marketing, category, and finance teams to set ambitious but grounded commercial targets and build the frameworks to track delivery against them.

2. Customer Experience & Digital Growth

Take ownership of the customer journey across the full digital funnel, from discovery through to purchase and retention. Identify and unlock growth opportunities through experience optimisation, personalisation, and funnel improvement initiatives. Collaborate with UX and product teams to prioritise the changes that move the needle on customer satisfaction, repeat purchase, and lifetime value.

3. Business Analytics & Reporting

Lead the translation of data and analytics into clear, actionable insights for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. Conduct deep-dive analyses on customer behaviour, funnel drop-offs, and campaign performance to inform strategic decision-making. Build and maintain reporting frameworks that give the business real-time visibility into commercial health.

4. Pricing, Open-to-Buy (OTB) & Cashflow

Develop and manage pricing strategy that balances competitiveness, margin protection, and demand signals. Own the OTB planning process, ensuring inventory investment is aligned with sales targets and cashflow objectives. Monitor inventory-related cashflow proactively, flagging risks early and recommending corrective actions before they impact the business.

5. Supply Chain & Omnichannel Efficiency

Oversee supply-side metrics that directly affect customer experience — including delivery speed, fulfilment accuracy, and stock availability. Work in close partnership with supply chain and operations teams to drive efficiency across online and offline touchpoints. Identify and resolve bottlenecks in the supply chain that create downstream commercial or experience impacts.

Skills & Competencies

Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage and interrogate a P&L end to end, including gross margin, contribution margin, and working capital dynamics.

Deep expertise in merchandise and inventory planning, including OTB management, sell-through analysis, and markdown optimisation.

Proficiency in data analytics tools — comfortable working with platforms such as Google Analytics, Looker, Power BI, or equivalent — and the ability to synthesise large datasets into clear business narratives.

Solid understanding of digital funnel mechanics, including the interplay between traffic, CVR, AOV, and retention, particularly within fashion e-commerce.

Working knowledge of pricing strategy frameworks and their application in a competitive, trend-sensitive retail environment.

Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across finance, marketing, supply chain, and technology.

Excellent communication skills — able to present complex analysis with clarity to senior leadership and non-technical audiences.

Organised, structured, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Experience Required

7–10 years of progressive experience in planning, commercial, or strategy roles within fashion retail or fashion e-commerce.

Proven track record of managing or materially contributing to a retail P&L, ideally across both online and offline channels.

Direct experience with OTB planning and inventory management in a fashion or lifestyle retail context — familiarity with seasonal buying cycles, trend-driven assortment planning, and stock risk management.

Experience working within or alongside e-commerce teams, with hands-on exposure to digital performance metrics and conversion optimisation.

Exposure to omnichannel retail operations, with an understanding of how inventory, fulfilment, and customer experience intersect across channels.

Prior experience in the GCC or broader MENA region is a strong advantage, given the nuances of the regional retail calendar, consumer behavior, and logistics landscape.

We’re running a short video data collection project for one of our clients. We’re looking for native Arabic speakers across multiple Arabic-speaking countries and dialects to record a 15–20 second video, speaking naturally in Arabic and looking directly into the camera. The videos collected will be used to help train and evaluate an AI model that distinguishes real, human-recorded video from AI-generated (synthetic) video.

Project Details:

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 1 session

Commitment: 1 hour.

Job Type: Freelance

Location: Saudi Arabia/Qatar (Remote) and 2ndry location UAE

Language/Dialects: Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, Iraqi, Yemeni

Pay Rate: $13.00/ per accepted Video (Saudi Arabia/Qatar)
Pay Rate: $15.00/ per accepted Video (UAE)

$13.00 per approved video, plus a 25% bonus for first-attempt quality (up to $16.25).
