Role: Cloud Architect (Remote) Location: Remote (Work from Anywhere) Payout: $40–$42 per hour
Role Overview:We are hiring for one of our clients, seeking a Backend Engineer (JSON Schema Developer) to work on a contract basis. In this role, you will design, build, and validate JSON schemas to ensure high-quality data extraction from complex PDF documents. Your work will directly influence how next-generation AI systems learn, reason, and perform across domains such as finance, healthcare, and engineering. The role leverages your expertise in data modeling and schema design to create robust APIs and validation frameworks that power reliable AI training and agent development.
Key Responsibilities:• Review and analyze 25–150-page PDF documents to identify and model key data points relevant to domain-specific use cases.• Design comprehensive JSON extraction schemas from scratch, determining optimal field extraction logic, data types, and structural organization—including deep nesting and repetition patterns.• Embed field-level validation logic directly into JSON schemas, such as sum requirements, null-value testing, and conditional pattern matching.• Define and maintain API contracts that ensure consistency between schema definitions and downstream system integrations.• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align schema design with data architecture goals and model evaluation objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:• Proficiency in JSON Schema specification and its application in data modeling and validation workflows.• Experience designing schemas for real-world document processing, including handling complex nesting and repetition structures.• Strong understanding of data typing, validation rules, and error handling within schema definitions.• Familiarity with API contract design and integration patterns, including Open API/Swagger and schema-first development.• Ability to analyze unstructured documents (e.g., PDFs) and extract structured representations suitable for AI training pipelines.• No prior AI experience is required—your domain expertise and technical skill in schema development are the focus.
More About the Opportunity:This opportunity offers direct impact on the development of frontier AI systems by ensuring high-quality, reliable data inputs. You will contribute to a scalable platform used by labs and enterprises to train models and build AI agents. We are looking for a Fractional AI Research Partner to join WyAsk. One to two days a week. Equity + small retainer. Remote-friendly with a GCC focus.
WyAsk is a B2B Saa S product built around one idea: knowledge should be distributable, contextualised, and measurable at the level of a human conversation. We are in live pilots in the UAE, bootstrapped, moving fast, and starting to get traction in a market that takes AI very seriously. The engineering execution is strong. What we need is a different kind of mind, someone who lives on the research frontier and can apply it to what we are building. Not to rebuild it, but to make sure we are making the right architectural bets, using the right models for the right reasons, and not missing something important that the field has already figured out.
What this actually means day to day:— Joining a small AI research committee (Founder + engineering lead) to shape the AI roadmap — Reviewing our architecture and model selection decisions with honest, informed eyes — Benchmarking our retrieval architecture and knowledge grounding approach against what is actually state of the art — Flagging what is coming before it becomes obvious — Contributing specific components or architectural approaches where your work genuinely accelerates ours
Who we are looking for:You have a research or senior applied AI background -- ex-lab, ex-frontier team, or deeply self-directed. You think at the level of architecture and model behaviour, not just implementation. You stay genuinely current. You have strong opinions on knowledge retrieval and grounding, agent design, cost at scale, and what the next twelve months in AI actually look like. Arabic language AI or GCC market context is a real bonus but not a requirement. You are comfortable with early-stage. You want a stake in something you believe in and the autonomy to bring your own perspective, not just validate someone else's.
What WyAsk offers:— Meaningful equity stake, vesting on contribution milestones — Small monthly retainer — A real product with real pilots, not a prototype — A genuine research and architecture role -- your thinking shapes the direction, it does not just inform it — A market -- the GCC -- where AI is moving faster than almost anywhere else right now If this resonates, send me a message here or reach me at o.mebarek@wyask.ai I am not running a formal process. I am looking for the right person.
