RESEARCH PROJECT TITLE: REGAINING TRUST IN ELECTRONIC CHIPS

FACULTY NAME & TITLE: OZGUR SINANOGLU, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING

Research Project Description

Support for multiple capabilities and mixed technologies has increased the cost of ownership of advanced electronics chip manufacturing foundries. For instance, the cost of owning a chip foundry will be $5 billion in 2015. As a result, many of the chip design companies cannot afford owning and acquiring expensive foundries and hence, outsource their design fabrication to offshore foundries. This globalization of Integrated Circuit (IC) design flow has introduced security vulnerabilities. If a design is fabricated in a foundry that is outside the direct control of the (fabless) design house, reverse engineering, malicious circuit modification, and Intellectual Property (IP) piracy are possible. An attacker, anywhere in this design flow, can reverse engineer the functionality of design, and steal and claim ownership of the IP. An untrusted IC foundry may overbuild ICs and sell the excess parts in the gray market. Rogue elements in the foundry may insert malicious circuits (hardware Trojans) into the design without the designer's knowledge. Because of these and similar hardware-based attacks, the semiconductor industry loses $4 billion annually. This project aims at understanding the aforementioned hardware security and trust issues, surveying the existing solutions, and proposing and implementing new ones.

Responsibilities Of The Position

Literature survey for chip design flow and latest hardware security and trust solutions Devising and implementing new design-for-trust techniques Simulations and experimentation to perform security/cost assessment

Essential Qualifications

At least a BS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a good background in data structures and algorithms, logic design and programming.

Preferred Experience / Skills

Coding experience in major software projects (C/C programming language) Familiarity with the IC design flow and use of electronic design automation (EDA) tools Background in VLSI design and CAD Statement of interest in the position Transcript of degree(s) CV Two letters of recommendation

Additional Program Information

UAE nationals are encouraged to apply

This position is under the NYUAD Kawader program, for details regarding the program, open dates, specific program requirements, and FAQ's please refer to our NYUAD Kawader webpage: https://nyuad.nyu.edu/en/about/careers/postdoctoral-and-research/kawader-research-assistantship-program.html

Kawader is a unique, national capacity-building research fellowship program that allows outstanding graduates to gain experience in a cutting-edge academic research environment. 1. About Origin Private Office Origin Private Office is a globally positioned boutique advisory firm specialising in ultra-prime real estate and private client services. Operating across the Middle East, Europe and Asia, Origin provides brokerage, development consultancy, luxury project marketing, private wealth strategy and concierge services for UHNW individuals and family offices. Through Origin Concierge, the firm delivers highly personalised lifestyle and operational support for international clients, often assisting with relocations, property acquisitions, household establishment and ongoing private client requirements. Origin does not operate a membership call centre. Every mandate is resourced with a named, dedicated Executive Assistant and direct partner oversight. The ratio of clients to manager is the service.
2. Role Overview Origin is appointing a Senior Executive Assistant to hold a single, dedicated global concierge mandate for an ultra-high-net-worth family with a primary residence in Dubai and a broadening international footprint. You will be the family’s day-to-day point of contact and the single point of accountability for delivery, with a full 40 hours per week dedicated to this one client. You will not be splitting attention across a portfolio of accounts. The mandate spans four priority workstreams alongside continuous household and lifestyle support: property search and acquisition; event management; the acquisition of furniture, furnishings and vehicles; and the sourcing of art, artefacts, luxury goods and valuables. Scope is global rather than limited to Dubai, delivered through Origin’s own team and a network of trusted local partners. This is an execution role, not a coordination role. You are expected to own outcomes end to end, keep a household of moving parts under control, and give both the family and Origin leadership complete visibility of where effort is going.
3. Core Responsibilities CLIENT RELATIONSHIP AND SINGLE POINT OF ACCOUNTABILITY• Act as the family’s dedicated day-to-day point of contact across all workstreams and jurisdictions• Build and hold a trusted working relationship with the Principals and their family office representative• Anticipate requirements ahead of being asked and resolve issues before they reach the Principals• Maintain a live view of open requests, owners, deadlines and dependencies at all times• Escalate promptly and appropriately to the Head of Concierge and Managing Partner PROPERTY SEARCH AND ACQUISITION• Run residential property searches and shortlists in line with the family’s brief, in any market• Coordinate market benchmarking, viewings and viewing itineraries• Support negotiation and coordinate agents, lawyers, valuers and other advisers through to completion• Manage completion logistics and move-in readiness EVENT MANAGEMENT• Plan and coordinate family and household events end to end, wherever they take place• Source venues, brief and manage vendors, and control budgets against approved spend• Manage guest lists, invitations and logistics• Provide on-site coordination on the day and handle post-event wrap-up and vendor settlement FURNITURE, FURNISHINGS AND VEHICLES• Source and specify furniture and furnishings in line with the family’s preferences and any appointed designer’s scheme• Negotiate with suppliers and manage orders, delivery, installation and snagging• Coordinate vehicle sourcing, purchase, registration and insurance ART, ARTEFACTS, LUXURY GOODS AND VALUABLES• Liaise with galleries, dealers, auction houses and specialist vendors globally• Coordinate purchase, payment, packing, transport and installation logistics• Introduce and coordinate independent authentication, valuation, insurance and restoration specialists as required DAY-TO-DAY LIFESTYLE AND HOUSEHOLD CONCIERGE• Source, coordinate and manage household vendors and service providers, and resolve issues as they arise• Support travel and lifestyle logistics across the family’s global footprint• Handle memberships, dining, ticketing and social introductions• Work alongside the existing household team, including the embedded Senior Personal Assistant, private chef and driver, ensuring clear division of responsibilities and no duplication• Manage household and personal purchases made on the family’s behalf, with accurate records for monthly invoicing COMMERCIAL DISCIPLINE, UTILISATION AND REPORTINGThis element distinguishes the role from a conventional private household position and is treated as core, not administrative.• Record time accurately against the mandate’s monthly man-hours allowance• Prepare the monthly utilisation summary and activity report for the family office and Origin leadership• Track the cumulative banked or over-utilised position and flag it before it reaches the agreed cap• Identify scope broadening as it emerges and raise it early with the Head of Concierge rather than absorbing it silently• Identify work that falls outside the retainer, including recruitment, renovation and fit-out, so it can be scoped and quoted separately Maintain clean records of third-party costs and approvals, and obtain prior approval for material expenditure
4. Working Hours and Availability The role is based in Dubai and is full time, with an estimated 40 hours per week to this mandate. Core hours will be agreed with the Head of Concierge and the family office. Reasonable responsiveness outside core hours is expected, including early mornings and evenings, given the family’s international footprint and the time zones in which suppliers and advisers operate. Origin manages this through planning and rota discipline rather than by expecting permanent availability. Travel is limited. Occasional regional travel may be required by exception and will be paid for by Origin.
5. Candidate Requirements ESSENTIAL• Seven or more years in private client services, UHNW household or family office operations, luxury hospitality management, private aviation or yachting, or a comparable service environment, with at least three years in a role carrying direct client ownership• Demonstrable ownership of outcomes, not tasks. Comfortable holding property, events, procurement and daily household matters at the same time without dropping threads• Vendor and supplier command. You can source, brief, negotiate with and hold to account suppliers at the luxury end of the market• Commercial literacy. About Quiqup Quiqup is the logistics backbone for some of the GCC’s most exciting brands — from solo founders launching their first D2C line to fast-growing e-commerce businesses scaling across the region. We’ve built something worth talking about. Now we need someone to help us tell that story.
About the role:This is a hands-on creative role for someone who makes things — content, campaigns, assets, and stories that bring Quiqup and the community around it to life. You’ll work closely with our Growth team to produce the visual and video content that represents our brand across social media, marketing campaigns, client communications, and beyond. You’ll be in the room — and often behind the camera — when we document what we’re building. That means interviewing real founders about their businesses, capturing campaigns as they happen, and turning the everyday work of a fast-moving logistics company into content people actually want to watch and read. This is an entry-level role built for someone who is already making things, even if not yet professionally. If you shoot video on your phone, edit in your spare time, have a social presence you’ve grown yourself, or have built anything creative — we want to hear from you.
What you’ll be doing:Shoot and edit video content. From client interview reels and founder stories to campaign recaps and social clips; you’re comfortable behind a camera and in an editing timeline. Interview clients on camera. Build the trust to get a good story out of someone, then shape that into content that represents them and us well. Create brand assets. Graphics, templates, visuals for campaigns, social posts, presentations, and digital channels; you have a feel for what looks right and why. Manage and grow our social media presence. Own the calendar, write the captions, respond to the community, and track what’s landing. Support campaign execution. When we run a programme like Shop Local or a product launch, you’re the person making it look and feel right across every touchpoint. Edit photos from events, shoots, and brand activations. Product-quality output, not just a quick filter. Bring creative ideas. You notice what other brands do well, you have opinions about what we should try, and you’re not shy about sharing them.
Who You Are:A recent graduate (media, communications, design, marketing, film — or self-taught with a portfolio to show). UAE National (Emirati) — this is a requirement for this role. Someone who already makes things. You have work to show, even if it’s personal projects, university work, or content you’ve made for fun. Comfortable on both sides of the camera. You can direct an interview and make someone feel at ease, and you can appear on screen yourself when needed. Proficient (or fast-learning) in video editing tools. Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Cap Cut, or similar. Confident with design tools. Canva, Figma, Adobe suite, or equivalent. Someone who Makes it Remarkable. You have high standards for how things look and you’ll push until it’s right. Curious about the UAE brand and e-commerce landscape. You follow the founders and businesses shaping it. A self-starter who Owns It. You manage your own deadlines, flag problems early, and don’t need to be chased.
What’s in it for you? Real creative ownership from day one — you’ll build a portfolio of real work, with real reach, for a brand that’s genuinely growing Access to some of the most interesting founders building in the GCC right now — and you’ll be the person capturing their stories A smart, humble, and mission-driven team solving real logistics challenges for e-commerce brands across the region Medical insurance coverage
Nice to Have A portfolio, Instagram, You Tube channel, or any body of work — even informal Experience shooting or editing on a professional or semi-professional camera Motion graphics or animation skills Arabic and English fluency — particularly valuable for client interview content
What Working Here Looks Like You’ll have real creative ownership from day one. Our clients are some of the most interesting founders building in the GCC right now — and you’ll be the person capturing their stories. You’ll build a portfolio of real work, with real reach, for a brand that’s genuinely growing. We take the work seriously and Enjoy the Ride. If you want a role where your creativity shapes how a company is seen in the market, this is it.
What to expect in the hiring process Our hiring process is simple and focused on getting to know you beyond just your CV.1.
