<section>Job DescriptionRoles & Responsibilities<div class="paragraph">Managerial<ul><li>Maintaining sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties<ul><li>Reporting shortage of materials to supervisor at earliest convenience, maintaining records for ordering and replenishments</li></ul></li></ul>Technical<ul><li>Performs all managerial functions common to the department level either directly or on a delegation basis to assigned personnel.<ul><li>Provides consultative services through the participation of the over-all development of pharmacy services policies, procedures, and standards in addition to the continued patient care evaluation program as related to drug use and effectiveness.</li><li>Assures the adherence to approved and accepted ethical and professional practice throughout the services by maintaining the proper storage, preparation, and dispensation of all drugs, chemical and biological, and by careful monitoring, either personally or as delegated and routine inspection and review of relate records and documents and monthly reports.</li><li>Administers field-wide control for the standard procedures as related to storing, handling, recording, dispensing and distribution of all regularly stocked and specially prescribed pharmaceuticals.</li><li>Responsible for procurement, stock maintenance and ledger maintenance of narcotic, controlled & psychotropic drugs. Submits monthly reports to MOH regarding the transactions of full controlled and semi controlled medicines. Submits forecast for annual narcotic requirements based on estimated usage. Reports on a quarterly and annual basis, regarding inventory and usage of all narcotic drugs to Ministry of Health. All other related correspondence is dealt with through the appropriate channels, as required.</li><li>Directs the design and preparation of the publication of drug formulary every year as a reference of all available and approved drugs for all medical personnel. Reviews pharmaceuticals manufacturers’ catalogues and brochures and various professional reference books and articles for use by all medical personnel.</li><li>Inventory control. Responsible for the physical stocks in the pharmacy and stock maintenance. All LPOs must be initiated for faxing to suppliers. To give reports and explanation to internal and/or external auditors whenever required. To make sure the availability of the medicines as per the formulary.</li><li>Serves as a Co-chairman to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and advising on matters pertaining to criteria of treatment, cost, and correct usage of drugs in the administration of patient care, etc.</li><li>Acts and makes immediate decisions upon receipt of any circular/ letter issued by the Ministry of Health recommending withdrawal and/or discontinuation of any medication, or to report any unexpected adverse effects.</li><li>Assures, either personally or as delegated, that all employees receive mandatory fire safety, infection control and/or other in-house educational training, in accordance with regulations.</li><li>Keeps informed as to current developments in the field and keeps staff up to date through group discussions, lectures, and in-service training.</li><li>Collaborates with other departmental personnel in planning programs for total patient care.</li><li>Plans and maintains master work schedules necessary for required performance of all Department functions, including leaves of absence, vacations, holiday, and weekend schedules.</li><li>Develops and maintains professional quality standards and makes recommendations for Improvement of such standards.</li><li>Directs the personnel functions of assigned staff including orientation of new employees.</li></ul> </li></ul>Quality and Safety<ul><li>Promoting and maintaining quality in all services and ensure continuous quality improvement measures are in place. Pharmacists must earn a Pharmacy Degree from an accredited college or school of pharmacy.<ul><li>Five (5) years of experience in hospital pharmacy and/or clinical pharmacy, including at least five (2) years in pharmacy administration.</li><li>Current license in country of origin with DHA license to practice in U.A.E.</li><li>Good command of English. Arabic is desirable but not essential.</li><li>Thorough knowledge of DHA policies and regulations regarding pharmaceuticals. <section>Job DescriptionRoles & Responsibilities<div class="paragraph"><ul><li>Organize and perform ultra-sonographic examinations in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by the supervising Radiologist. Document high quality images and practice good patient care.</li><li>Check patients identity and examinations required ensuring all examinations are justified.</li><li>Prepare exam room and select appropriate ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infectious disease, sterilization, and patient safety protocols, policies, and procedures.</li><li>Obtain and record patient history including prior test results. Review patient medical history and supporting clinical information. Enter test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.</li><li>Use proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety, and to prevent compromised data acquisition and musculoskeletal injury to the sonographer.   Maneuver patients into appropriate position for procedure to obtain the best images.</li><li>Apply independent judgment during the sonography examination to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images. </li><li>Review examination images, synthesize examination results, prepare the preliminary findings and relay findings to Radiologist or Physician. </li><li>Ensure that the sonography examination results meet the facility standards for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation. Follow the guidelines provided by the supervising Radiologist for a particular sonographic examination. </li><li>Maintain ultrasound equipment and supplies. Perform quality control procedures to ensure that the ultrasound equipment operates at optimal levels. Exercise responsibility to ensure that the ultrasound equipment is functioning accurately. Assist the Radiology Manager in maintaining accurate QC logs, service records etc. </li><li>Understand and practice proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer’s instruction.</li><li>Ensure the safety and comfort of the patient throughout the examination and provide care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric and general population.</li></ul>Other responsibilities of this post include,<ul><li>Undertake and perform General Radiography, Bone Mineral Densitometry, Mammography, and Fluoroscopy requested to a high level of Radiographic skill as and when required. Due consideration is to be given to the clinical indication, needs and abilities of the patient when tailoring the examination.</li><li>Check patients identity and examinations required ensuring all examinations are justified and optimized.</li><li>Assess, in consultation with the Radiologist where necessary, the justification for ionizing radiation exposure given in referrals for ionizing radiation examinations, using the ALARA principle as the standard. Where required, resolve insufficiently justified requests for ionizing radiation examinations with the referring clinician and / or the Radiologist. Supervise and assist more junior radiographers in the process when required.</li><li>Assess patients and their clinical requirements to determine appropriate scanning / radiographic techniques.</li><li>Get pregnancy questionnaire consent from female patients of reproductive age and file it for future reference.</li><li>Give instructions to the patients for the examinations to be performed whenever required and ensure that the patient has received the appropriate preparation before starting the procedure. Modify communication / listening technique according to the patient’s abilities and needs, to maximize compliance and obtain a satisfactory imaging outcome. Explain delays, if any.</li><li>Ensure adequate information is available in hand to enable optimum application of procedures.</li><li>Observe and maintain contact with patients during their waiting, examination and post-examination stay in the department.</li><li>Aware of emergency procedures. Assist in any emergency treatment of patients, if necessary, i.e. allergic reaction. Obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) at all times during the employment in the hospital.</li><li>Perform duties efficiently, effectively and economically in line with best practice and / or as directed by the Management in the provision of a quality service at all times. </li></ul></div></section><section>Desired Candidate Profile<ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in  Diagnostic Radiography or its equivalent</li><li>Postgraduate Certificate in Ultrasonography (preferable).</li></ul><ul><li>Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in ultrasound, mammography and fluoroscopic procedures. </li></ul><ul><li>The ability to apply technical skills, together with a demonstrable knowledge of, and interest in sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, pathology, physics and radiographic positioning techniques.</li><li>Ability to effectively present information.</li><li>Mathematical skills and ability to deal with complex radiological equipment.</li><li>Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.</li><li>Knowledge of Health and Safety measures.</li><li>Sound knowledge in radiation safety measures.</li><li>Good knowledge in the care of patient related to Radiology and Imaging.</li><li>Good interpersonal and communication skills.
