RESEARCH PROJECT TITLE: Bioluminescence and the Determination of the Color Emission Mechanism

FACULTY NAME & TITLE: WAEL RABEH, PH. D., ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE OF CHEMISTRY

RESEARCH PROJECT DESCRIPTION Bioluminescence is found in various living organisms including bacteria, fireflies, beetles, marine organisms, and others. Luminous organisms produce light from an enzymatic reaction that involves the enzyme luciferase and its substrates luciferin and ATP in their ground state to produce a high-energy product in excited state that decays back to the ground state and release energy as a photon of visible light. Luciferase assays are used in biological and medical research, which currently represents the main analytical platform in the in vivo imaging, cell proliferation, and protein folding and secretion. Investigating the kinetic and emission color mechanisms of the luciferase reaction will improve and diverse some of the existing assays and develop new applications. In this project, we would like to study the structural and mechanistic properties of two different enzymes that produce red and green luminescence. The substrates of the two enzymes are identical, however, different luminescence color is produced as a result of different enzymes’ structures. To characterize the color difference between the two enzymes, we will express and purify the protein in bacterial expression system. The protein will be characterized using different spectral techniques, X-ray crystallography, and enzyme kinetics.

Responsibilities Of The Position

Molecular Biology: DNA cloning and manipulation. Tech Pipeline works with operations teams to resolve the friction found in the middle of their business processes. We are currently assisting an Abu Dhabi investment firm that is expanding its internal technical capabilities, focusing on the practical application of AI within their data workflows. This fully remote role is about ensuring that information moves correctly through their systems without getting stuck in manual backlogs.
About the role
As an AI Operations Assistant, you will be on the front lines of maintaining system integrity. When automated tools are introduced to complex financial environments, the data often hits roadblocks that require human eyes to resolve. You will help bridge the gap between high-level AI tools and the actual logs where the work happens. Your focus will be on the technical reality of how data is routed, ensuring the source of truth remains accurate across all platforms. This is a junior role designed for someone who is organized and enjoys the process of untangling messy information flows.

What you will be doing Monitor automated routing rules to ensure data is reaching the correct destination. Review daily logs to identify where AI-driven processes have stalled or failed. Perform routine reconciliation tasks to verify that system outputs match the source files. Draft and update standard operating procedures as we modify how the client uses their tools. Assist in clearing backlogs of data that require manual categorization or verification. Document specific friction points in the workflow to help the technical team implement permanent fixes. Verify that internal databases stay synced during system updates and migrations.

What we need from you A high level of comfort with digital tools and the ability to learn new software quickly. Exceptional attention to detail, especially when reviewing long lists of entries or logs. Clear writing skills that allow you to explain technical issues without using jargon. Basic familiarity with how data is organized, such as in spreadsheets or simple databases. A preference for solving concrete problems rather than discussing abstract ideas. The ability to work independently in a fully remote setting while staying connected through written updates. Willingness to trace an error back to its source, even if it takes several steps.

Helpful background Previous experience in a role that required high accuracy, such as data entry or administrative support. A basic understanding of how APIs or automated workflows function at a high level. Exposure to financial software or investment reporting tools in a classroom or work setting.

What the role offers A permanent, full-time position that is entirely remote. Attractive and competitive pay that aligns with current market standards for this level. Direct experience working on complex operations projects for international clients. A professional environment where documentation and clarity are valued over meetings. The chance to learn how to fix real-world operational drag from experienced specialists. Opportunities to grow your technical skills in a practical, hands-on way.

Working at Tech Pipeline
We believe that the best work happens when people have the space to focus on the task at hand. Our team operates with a high degree of autonomy, using weekly written updates to keep everyone informed instead of crowding the calendar with video calls. At Tech Pipeline, we value truth over comfort: we look at what the logs actually say, not what we hope they say. We are not interested in long-term strategy sessions or complex frameworks. We fix the specific problems that cause friction for our clients, ensure the new process is stable, and then hand over the keys. It is a grounded way to work that rewards accuracy and a job well done.

RESEARCH PROJECT TITLE: REGAINING TRUST IN ELECTRONIC CHIPS

FACULTY NAME & TITLE: OZGUR SINANOGLU, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING

Research Project Description

Support for multiple capabilities and mixed technologies has increased the cost of ownership of advanced electronics chip manufacturing foundries. For instance, the cost of owning a chip foundry will be $5 billion in 2015. As a result, many of the chip design companies cannot afford owning and acquiring expensive foundries and hence, outsource their design fabrication to offshore foundries. This globalization of Integrated Circuit (IC) design flow has introduced security vulnerabilities. If a design is fabricated in a foundry that is outside the direct control of the (fabless) design house, reverse engineering, malicious circuit modification, and Intellectual Property (IP) piracy are possible. An attacker, anywhere in this design flow, can reverse engineer the functionality of design, and steal and claim ownership of the IP. An untrusted IC foundry may overbuild ICs and sell the excess parts in the gray market. Rogue elements in the foundry may insert malicious circuits (hardware Trojans) into the design without the designer's knowledge. Because of these and similar hardware-based attacks, the semiconductor industry loses $4 billion annually. This project aims at understanding the aforementioned hardware security and trust issues, surveying the existing solutions, and proposing and implementing new ones.

Responsibilities Of The Position

Literature survey for chip design flow and latest hardware security and trust solutions Devising and implementing new design-for-trust techniques Simulations and experimentation to perform security/cost assessment

Essential Qualifications

At least a BS degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a good background in data structures and algorithms, logic design and programming.

Preferred Experience / Skills

Coding experience in major software projects (C/C programming language) Familiarity with the IC design flow and use of electronic design automation (EDA) tools Background in VLSI design and CAD Statement of interest in the position Transcript of degree(s) CV Two letters of recommendation

Additional Program Information

UAE nationals are encouraged to apply

This position is under the NYUAD Kawader program, for details regarding the program, open dates, specific program requirements, and FAQ's please refer to our NYUAD Kawader webpage: https://nyuad.nyu.edu/en/about/careers/postdoctoral-and-research/kawader-research-assistantship-program.html

Kawader is a unique, national capacity-building research fellowship program that allows outstanding graduates to gain experience in a cutting-edge academic research environment.
