Gym Nation

1 active job (view) www.gymnation.com

Published

August 11, 2026

Location

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Category

Marketing & Advertising

Job Type

Permanent: Full-time

Description

50+ gyms. 250,000+ members and expanding quickly!

Gym Nation, the Middle East's fastest-growing fitness brand, is seeking a world-class Head of Member Retention & Loyalty to own churn, tenure and member lifetime value end-to-end. One of the first roles of its kind in the global fitness industry.

We've become brilliant at getting people through the door. Now we're going to be the best in the world at keeping them. Every operator talks about churn - almost none have a senior leader who owns it. From a member's first workout to the moment they'd never dream of cancelling, the relationship is yours to design.

You won't start from a blank page. A best-in-industry technology stack and established tech, data and CRM teams are here to put your ideas into action. You'll unite behavioural science, technology and creativity into one retention system. We leverage AI and automation across the business and expect you to advance us here. In retention, AI is the difference between reacting to cancellations and predicting them.

We're growing fast, and so will your impact: exceptional visibility, direct influence on strategy, and the chance to build the retention playbook the rest of the industry will want to copy and can't.

Responsibilities

Retention Strategy & Ownership

Own the retention strategy and be accountable for member churn, average length of stay and lifetime value across the business. Specify and sign off a single agreed view of retention performance - cohort curves, survival analysis, and voluntary versus involuntary churn. Diagnose why and when members leave, by segment, tenure, price point, joining channel, gym and market. Prioritise the levers by value at stake, and kill the ones that don't move the number. Own the multi-year roadmap that takes retention from a reporting line to a structural competitive advantage.

Behavioural Science, Onboarding & Habit Formation

Redesign onboarding and the critical first 90 days around the behaviours that actually predict long-term membership. Identify and instrument our early-visit "magic number" - the visit frequency that separates a member who stays from one who lapses. Apply named behavioural science (habit loops, commitment devices, loss aversion, goal gradient, social proof, nudge theory) to real member journeys, not theory. Own the nudge architecture behind every journey - the timing, framing, defaults, choice sets and friction that decide whether a member acts, not just the message sent. Design the in-gym moments that matter: first workout, first class, first body scan, first personal goal, first friend made. Set the brief for Operations and in-gym teams so front desk and floor staff are an active part of the retention system.

Gamification

Design and work with the tech team to ship gamification inside the Gym Nation app - streaks, badges, milestones, challenges, leaderboards and rewards. Build mechanics that drive genuine visit frequency and belonging, not vanity metrics, and retire what doesn't earn its place. Integrate body-composition and performance data so progress itself becomes the reward.

Loyalty Programmes

Build and own the Gym Nation loyalty programme - tenure rewards, status tiers, partner perks and member benefits. Own the referral programme so loyalty compounds, and the win-back programme so lapsed members return. Create structural reasons to stay that competitors cannot copy, and that strengthen rather than discount the proposition. Own the reward economics so the programme demonstrably pays for itself in retained revenue.

Ancillary & Add-On Retention

Own churn and tenure across the full product ladder, not just core membership - body-composition scanning, Recovery Rooms, hydration and in-gym retail, and premium or signature products. Track add-on churn separately from core churn. A member who drops one product but stays is a different problem to one who leaves altogether. Identify which add-ons are genuine retention anchors and which are simply incremental revenue, then own the attach-and-retain playbook: what is sold at join, what is sold later, and what actually extends core tenure. Design upgrade, downgrade and pause paths so that a cancellation becomes a downgrade rather than a loss.

AI & the Member App

Direct the roadmap for churn-risk scoring, personalised journeys and next-best-action in the app. Own and evolve the AI save-flow - matching the right save lever to every reason a member gives for leaving. Use AI to personalise content, goals, class recommendations and nudges at individual member level. Work with Technology and Data to move from rules-based triggers to predictive, continuously learning models. Set the standard for how AI is used responsibly with member data in every country we operate in.

Lifecycle Communications

With the Head of CRM and wider marketing team, orchestrate every channel into one coherent member journey - email, push, SMS, Whats App, in-app, in-gym screens, TV and radio, and front-desk conversations. Launch and continuously improve lifecycle campaigns for onboarding, at-risk, lapsed, win-back and high-value members. Eliminate fragmented messaging that erodes trust, and govern contact frequency across the business.

Measurement, Experimentation & Reporting

Run a continuous programme of experiments and A/B tests - designed properly, read honestly, and scaled only when they work. Quantify the revenue impact of every retention initiative and report it to leadership in commercial terms. Build the dashboards and scorecards that give leadership and gym managers real-time visibility. Benchmark against global operators and set the target that makes us best in class.

Team & Cross-Functional Leadership

Build and lead the retention and loyalty function from the ground up. Work across Technology, Data, CRM, Marketing, Operations and Finance to make retention a company-wide priority, not a departmental initiative. Translate complex behavioural and analytical findings into executive-ready recommendations for the leadership team, board and investors.

Requirements

Experience

5+ years in retention, loyalty, lifecycle marketing, CRM or customer experience, with at least 3 years leading or building a function. Track record of owning retention or loyalty in a consumer subscription business, with demonstrable impact on churn and lifetime value. You might come from anywhere - subscription tech, gaming, telco, fintech, streaming, e-commerce, hospitality or fitness. What matters is the instinct for behaviour, data and habit. Experience designing and launching a loyalty programme, gamification system or major lifecycle journey end-to-end, not just optimising one. Product-minded, with experience shipping features or journeys inside a mobile app alongside product and engineering teams. Multi-product or add-on subscription experience is a strong advantage - tiering, attach and cross-sell, downgrade paths and product-ladder economics - as is multi-market or multi-language experience.

Technical Requirements

Data-literate and hands-on - cohort analysis, survival curves, LTV modelling, churn drivers and segmentation. Strong understanding of A/B testing, experiment design, statistical significance and the traps in both. Familiarity with subscription billing platforms, recurring-payment lifecycles, dunning and involuntary churn. Comfortable using AI tools (LLMs, agents, Claude Code) to accelerate workflows and multiply your output.

Mindset

Behavioural science fluent - can name the science and apply it to a real member journey. Commercially minded - sees retention as revenue, not a soft metric, and can defend every investment in those terms. Builder mentality - energised by a blank page, a world-first mandate and the chance to define the role rather than inherit it. Exceptional communicator - can align Tech, Data, Marketing and Operations behind one retention goal. Strategic thinker who can zoom out to set direction and zoom in to write the push notification copy when it matters. Intellectually honest - reads experiment results as they are, not as they were hoped to be. AI-forward - sees AI tools as core to how a modern retention function operates.

Additional Information

What Success Looks Like: The metrics you'll move

Monthly and annual churn - the headline number you own. Member lifetime value and average length of stay. Visit frequency, and the percentage of members hitting the sticky threshold. Cancellation save-rate - members retained at the point of leaving. Add-on attach rate, add-on churn and ancillary revenue per member. App engagement, including DAU/MAU, streaks and challenge participation. Referral and win-back rates.

How to Apply

If this sounds like the perfect role for you, or someone you know, please apply and our HR team will be in touch asap with shortlisted candidates.

We look forward to hearing from you!

APPLY HERE: https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4450305141/

The Role This is a senior client-facing role for someone who wants to operate at the intersection of strategy, growth, sales, and execution.
You will work directly with founders and business owners, understand their business in depth, identify what is holding growth back, and help them decide what to do next.
You are not here to simply manage a relationship.
You are here to become a trusted partner in the growth of the business.
That means understanding the client's goals, offer, market, acquisition strategy, sales process, delivery model, current constraints, and commercial priorities - then helping them turn that into a clear plan of action.
In some conversations, you will be helping a founder sharpen their positioning.
In others, you will be diagnosing why pipeline is weak, why sales are not converting, why execution is stalling, or where the next growth opportunity sits.
Your job is to create clarity.
To tell clients what matters now.
To show them what needs to happen next.
And to make sure the right actions actually happen.
This is not a traditional Customer Success role.
It is a role for someone who wants to become an exceptional commercial operator by working closely with ambitious founders and helping them solve real business problems.
The Opportunity You will have exposure to a large number of businesses, markets, offers, sales models, and growth challenges.
That creates an unusually steep learning curve.
Instead of spending years inside one company solving one set of problems, you will see patterns across dozens of businesses and develop the judgment to quickly understand: What is actually holding growth back What is noise and what matters Where the highest-leverage opportunity is What the founder should focus on now What should be stopped What should be doubled down on How strategy should translate into execution Over time, the expectation is that clients see you as someone whose judgment they trust.
Someone who can walk into a complicated situation, understand it quickly, simplify it, and give them a clear direction forward.
If you want to build serious capability in growth strategy, founder communication, sales, operations, and commercial decision-making, this role gives you the environment to do it.
What You Will Own Become a True Growth Partner to Clients You will work closely with founders to understand the business beyond surface-level account updates.
You will build a clear picture of: Their business model Target market ICP Offer Pricing Positioning Acquisition channels Sales process Current pipeline Delivery model Team capacity Growth goals Immediate constraints From there, you will help determine the highest-priority actions required to move the business forward.
Advise, Don't Just Support We are not looking for someone who simply responds to questions.
We want someone capable of leading the thinking.
You should be comfortable saying: "This is the problem I think we need to solve first.
" "This is where I think you're focusing on the wrong thing.
" "This is the strategy I would recommend.
" "This is what I would do over the next 30 days.
" "This is what needs to happen before we scale.
" You will challenge clients when needed, simplify decisions, and help them avoid wasting time on low-leverage work.
Your value comes from your judgment, not just your responsiveness.
Turn Strategy Into Action Good advice without execution is useless.
Every strategic conversation should translate into clear priorities.
You will help clients move from broad goals to focused execution: Define the objective Identify the constraint Decide the strategy Break it into clear actions Assign ownership Set timelines Review what happened Adjust based on results You should naturally reduce complexity rather than add to it.
If a client has fifteen things they could be doing, your job is often to help them identify the two or three that actually matter.
Help Clients Build Revenue You will think commercially.
That means understanding the complete journey from market to revenue: Positioning → Acquisition → Conversations → Pipeline → Sales → Revenue → Delivery → Expansion You will help clients understand where that journey is breaking down.
For example: If acquisition is weak, you investigate the offer, market, message, and channel.
If leads are coming in but deals are not closing, you look at qualification, sales process, follow-up, positioning, and pricing.
If sales are happening but delivery is becoming difficult, you help identify what needs to change operationally.
You should be comfortable moving across the business rather than treating growth as a single function.
Work Across Growth Channels Depending on the client, you may be advising across areas such as: Cold email Outbound Paid acquisition Offer development ICP and positioning Lead generation CRM and pipeline Sales process Follow-up Proposal strategy Pricing Go-to-market Operational priorities AI implementation and services You do not need to personally be the world's best practitioner in every function.
You do need enough commercial understanding to identify what is working, what is not, ask the right questions, and make good strategic recommendations.
Lead High-Level Client Conversations You will spend significant time speaking directly with founders and senior operators.
These are not scripted check-ins.
The conversations should be valuable enough that a founder would pay for the thinking itself.
You will: Review business performance Analyse what has changed Identify opportunities Diagnose problems Challenge assumptions Set priorities Recommend strategy Help unblock decisions Create accountability Keep momentum high The standard is not whether the meeting happened.
The standard is whether the meeting changed what happens next.
Own the Bigger Picture Clients may have multiple people supporting different parts of their business.
Your role is to maintain the full commercial picture.
You should understand what everyone is working on, how it connects to the overall strategy, and whether the combined effort is actually moving the client toward their objective.
If teams become disconnected, priorities conflict, or something important is falling through the cracks, you take ownership of resolving it.
The client should feel like they have one clear strategic partner who understands the whole business.
Identify Risk Before It Becomes a Problem Strong operators notice problems early.
You should recognise when: A client is losing momentum Execution has stalled The strategy is not producing results Expectations have become misaligned Lead flow is weak Sales follow-up is poor Internal delivery is becoming a blocker The client is focusing on the wrong priorities Trust is beginning to decline Then act.
Do not wait for a formal escalation.
Part of being a trusted partner is being willing to address uncomfortable realities before they become larger problems.
Skills & CompetenciesCommercial Judgment You understand how businesses grow and make money.
You can connect strategy to revenue and distinguish between activity and actual commercial progress.
Strong Diagnostic Ability You can listen to a complicated situation and quickly work out what the underlying issue is.
You separate symptoms from root causes.
Strategic Thinking You can move between the big picture and immediate execution.
You know how to turn an ambitious goal into the next few actions that actually matter.
Founder-Level Communication You can communicate confidently with intelligent, ambitious, demanding people.
You are comfortable challenging ideas without becoming confrontational.
You can give clear advice even when it is not what the client hoped to hear.
High Ownership You do not wait to be told what to do when something is obviously not working.
You investigate, decide what needs to happen, and move it forward.
Structured Execution You are excellent at turning conversations into decisions, priorities, actions, owners, and timelines.
Curiosity You genuinely enjoy understanding businesses.
You want to know why an offer works.
Why one market responds differently from another.
Why one sales process converts and another does not.
Why certain founders execute faster than others.
That curiosity compounds into judgment.
AI Fluency You actively use AI to improve your thinking and output.
You should use AI to analyse businesses, prepare for conversations, research markets, structure plans, review performance, document decisions, and increase the quality and speed of your work.
The Person We Want This role is best suited to someone who wants to accelerate their career by taking on real responsibility.
You want to become the kind of person founders trust when making important decisions.
You want to develop judgment, not just knowledge.
You want to understand how businesses grow from the inside.
You are excited by the idea of working across many different companies, seeing patterns quickly, and becoming better at solving commercial problems every week.
You do not want to spend your career running scripted calls.
You want to sit across from a founder, understand what they are trying to build, and help them build it.
You Will Probably Not Fit If You want a traditional Customer Success role You prefer being given the answer rather than finding it You are uncomfortable advising people more senior than you You avoid giving direct recommendations You prefer following scripts to thinking independently You enjoy relationship management but are less interested in business strategy You are uncomfortable discussing revenue, sales, pricing, or performance You need very clear boundaries around your responsibilities You focus heavily on activity rather than outcomes You are looking for a low-pressure role with a predictable learning curve What You Get Fully remote Full-time role at a profitable, bootstrapped company Direct access to ambitious founders and business owners Exposure to a wide variety of companies, markets, and growth problems The opportunity to build deep skill across strategy, acquisition, sales, operations, and AI Significant autonomy and ownership Direct access to senior leadership A role where your judgment and capability can grow quickly Performance-based progression into leadership, strategy, operations, or broader commercial ownership Independent Contractor Agreement This is an opportunity to become much more than an account manager.
Done well, this role develops you into the kind of commercial operator who can walk into almost any business, understand what matters, and help the founder decide what to do next.
Experience 7+ years in consulting, growth, client strategy, account management, sales, operations, or a senior client-facing role Experience working directly with founders, executives, or business owners Strong commercial understanding and the ability to think across acquisition, sales, and delivery Experience helping businesses solve growth or execution problems Strong understanding of B2B go-to-market Direct exposure to areas such as outbound, sales, offer creation, paid acquisition, pipeline management, A demonstrable record of quantifiable achievements in prior senior finance roles — for example ARR/revenue grown from one level to another, gross-margin improvement, burn reduced, runway extended, or a successful audit or exit. General statements will not be accepted in place of numbers. Track Record & Evidence Required Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following with concrete evidence, not general statements:● Specific financial results delivered in previous roles, expressed in numbers — e.g. ARR/MRR growth, gross-margin improvement, burn reduction, runway extension, or cost savings realised.● At least one funding, M&A, or exit outcome the candidate personally led or co-led, with round size, structure, and timeline.● First-hand experience of the cybersecurity (or directly comparable technology) business model — its metrics, unit economics, and specific risk landscape.● Verifiable references and, where available, supporting materials or anonymised case examples for the achievements claimed.● Selection will focus on evidence of past outcomes, not hypothetical capability; candidates who cannot substantiate their track record will not be progressed. Technical & Functional Skills Strong command of financial modeling, forecasting, and Saa S metrics. Experience with financial systems/ERP platforms and reporting tools. Familiarity with multi-jurisdictional tax, compliance, and regulatory requirements. First-hand understanding of the cybersecurity industry's business model, risk landscape, and investor expectations — required, not a plus. Core Competencies Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen. Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly with investors and Boards. Strong leadership and team-building capability. High integrity, discretion, and sound judgment given sensitivity of financial and cybersecurity-related data. Results-driven, with a track record of measurable outcomes rather than activity — able to point to what was delivered, in numbers. Evidence-based and rigorous — makes and defends claims with data, and expects the same from the team.5. SUCCESS IN THE FIRST 12 MONTHS● A clear, board-ready view of the company's financial position, KPIs, and runway is in place and trusted.● Financial planning, reporting, and controls are tightened to institutional-investor standard.● The next fundraising or capital plan is prepared and investor-ready, with data room and materials built.● Finance operations (accounting, treasury, payroll, tax) run cleanly and scale with the business.● The CEO and Board make faster, better-informed decisions because finance provides the numbers and the options.
