About the Opportunity Insurance is becoming one of the decisive institutional front lines of systemic risk management. Climate volatility, cyber accumulation, infrastructure fragility, AI disruption, energy transition, water stress, food-system vulnerability, health security, supply-chain instability, sovereign risk, debt stress, geopolitical uncertainty, disaster loss, biodiversity degradation, litigation exposure, and compound catastrophe risk are no longer isolated underwriting variables. They increasingly shape insurability, protection gaps, claims volatility, reinsurance availability, accumulation management, capital adequacy, infrastructure resilience, regulatory expectations, portfolio strategy, public-private risk sharing, and long-term economic stability.
The Global Risks Alliance (GRA) is onboarding senior insurance leaders to join the Insurance Council within the National Nexus Consortiums and help govern the national Insurance Nexus platform as the insurance-sector leadership, coordination, and market-readiness surface of the Nexus architecture.
The Insurance Council governs the Insurance Nexus platform at the national level. It provides senior leadership over how insurance-sector expertise, risk intelligence, resilience priorities, protection-gap analysis, underwriting-relevant evidence, catastrophe and systemic-risk modeling, public-private risk-finance dialogue, claims learning, and insurance-readiness pathways are organized within the relevant National Nexus Consortium.
This is a leadership pathway for senior leaders across insurance, reinsurance, brokerage, risk advisory, actuarial science, catastrophe modeling, risk engineering, claims strategy, underwriting, portfolio risk, resilience finance, infrastructure risk, public-private risk finance, insurance technology, and regulatory engagement.
The Council is designed for leaders who understand that the future of insurance will depend not only on pricing and transferring risk, but on helping countries, sectors, infrastructure systems, companies, and communities become more risk-intelligent, insurance-readable, finance-ready, resilience-ready, and implementation-capable.
Requirements
Membership readiness: Ability to join the Council as a paying member in good standing and, where applicable, become eligible for future board, committee, or council leadership consideration under the applicable governance process. Senior insurance-sector relevance: Currently hold, or have recently held, a senior role relevant to insurance, reinsurance, brokerage, actuarial science, catastrophe modeling, underwriting, claims, risk engineering, portfolio management, resilience finance, infrastructure risk, public-private risk finance, insurance technology, regulatory engagement, development finance, or institutional strategy. Clear professional mandate: Have a professional mandate, institutional position, sector expertise, or leadership record aligned with the Council’s work, not only a general interest in insurance, resilience, or systemic risk. Strategic contribution capacity: Be able to contribute senior judgment, strategic relationships, sector knowledge, practical leadership capacity, and disciplined understanding of insurance-market realities. Market and risk literacy: Understand underwriting constraints, accumulation risk, reinsurance dynamics, claims volatility, protection gaps, regulatory expectations, capital pressures, infrastructure exposure, climate and cyber risk, catastrophe modeling, client transition challenges, and the practical limits of insurance markets. Council participation capacity: Be able to participate in council formation, Insurance Nexus governance, working groups, portfolio development, stakeholder engagement, member consultations, annual build-cycle preparation, and national or regional consortium development where appropriate. About the Opportunity Insurance is becoming one of the decisive institutional front lines of systemic risk management. Climate volatility, cyber accumulation, infrastructure fragility, AI disruption, energy transition, water stress, food-system vulnerability, health security, supply-chain instability, sovereign risk, debt stress, geopolitical uncertainty, disaster loss, biodiversity degradation, litigation exposure, and compound catastrophe risk are no longer isolated underwriting variables. They increasingly shape insurability, protection gaps, claims volatility, reinsurance availability, accumulation management, capital adequacy, infrastructure resilience, regulatory expectations, portfolio strategy, public-private risk sharing, and long-term economic stability.
The Global Risks Alliance (GRA) is onboarding senior insurance leaders to join the Insurance Council within the National Nexus Consortiums and help govern the national Insurance Nexus platform as the insurance-sector leadership, coordination, and market-readiness surface of the Nexus architecture.
The Insurance Council governs the Insurance Nexus platform at the national level. Clear professional mandate: Have a professional mandate, institutional position, sector expertise, or leadership record aligned with the Council’s work, not only a general interest in insurance, resilience, or systemic risk. Strategic contribution capacity: Be able to contribute senior judgment, strategic relationships, sector knowledge, practical leadership capacity, and disciplined understanding of insurance-market realities. Market and risk literacy: Understand underwriting constraints, accumulation risk, reinsurance dynamics, claims volatility, protection gaps, regulatory expectations, capital pressures, infrastructure exposure, climate and cyber risk, catastrophe modeling, client transition challenges, and the practical limits of insurance markets.
