<p>The Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and AI (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi is a cross‑disciplinary hub where mathematicians, computer scientists, engineers, and social scientists join forces to push the boundaries of data‑driven discovery. Our mission is two‑fold: to advance fundamental theory in probability and machine learning, and to translate those breakthroughs into high‑impact tools that serve the UAE, the wider Arab world, and global society.</p><br><br>
<p>We are seeking a Junior Research Scientist to join the team to work under the theme of Computational & Interactive Health under the supervision of Dr. Farah Shamout & Dr. Hanan Salam and in close collaboration with Prof. Nizar Habash. The researcher is expected to have strong machine learning & AI skills and exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. The project has three main objectives: (a) developing robust computational methods for decision-making in health based on clinical use cases of interest, (b) building a tailored health-focused Arabic knowledge interactive language model through the development of benchmark datasets, evaluation frameworks, and specialized LLMs and AI agents, and finally (c) designing specialized interactive multimodal multi-lingual natural interfaces.</p><br><br>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><br><br>

<li>A master's degree in less than 5 years of research experince in the relevant field or a bachelors degree with any level of experince.</li>
<li>Support the research supervisors and team in developing and implementing the research agenda.</li>

<li>Generate new high-impact ideas based on gaps and limitations of the state-of-the-art (SOTA).</li>
<li>Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences.</li>
<li>Communicate and present research findings at local and international academic gatherings.</li>
<li>Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility.</li>
<li>Maintain good practice in managing and accessing sensitive medical datasets.</li>

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing complex piping replacement, shutdown, and SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) works — including specialized piping systems, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and schedule adherence to project:<br>Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end construction execution for EPC projects, from mobilization through mechanical completion and handover. Manage mechanical and piping construction scopes including fabrication, installation, testing (hydrotest/NDT), and reinstatement of process piping systems. Plan and supervise construction activities under SIMOPS conditions, ensuring safe execution alongside live plant operations with minimal disruption to production. Develop and implement plant shutdown/turnaround construction plans, coordinating scope, resources, and sequencing to meet tight shutdown windows. Oversee corrosion mitigation works, including pipe spool replacement, patch plate installations, and integrity restoration on process and utility systems (e.g., cooling water, relief/drain systems, recycle lines). Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and codes/standards (e.g., ASME, API) across all construction activities; enforce permit-to-work, isolation, and confined space procedures in live plant environments. Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, Operations, and subcontractor teams to resolve field issues and maintain project schedule and budget. Supervise site supervisors, foremen, QC inspectors, and craft labor; manage subcontractor performance and productivity. Review and approve method statements, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), risk assessments (JSA/HIRA), and work permits prior to execution. Demonstrated experience executing works under SIMOPS and individual train / total plant shutdowns. Experience with corrosion mitigation and pipe integrity restoration methods, including patch plate repairs and pipe spool replacement. Strong working knowledge of relevant international codes and standards (ASME B31.3, API, ASTM, etc.). Solid understanding of permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures, and HSE management in high-hazard industrial environments. Experience working on major offshore/onshore oil & gas assets (e.g., island plants, offshore production facilities) is highly desirable.
