Position Summary
<span></span><p>Â The Computer Information Science (CIS) Lab Assistant supports faculty and students within one or more CIS program areas by maintaining the college's laboratories and workshops. The incumbent's scope of work includes the installation, demonstration, maintenance and trouble-shooting of equipment and facilities. This is a hands-on role which will have the Lab Assistant working closely with faculty and students with the laboratory. The CIS Lab Assistant sets up the lab in preparation for experiments and practical activities.</p><br>

<p>The Social Machines and Robotics (SMART) Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi focuses on the development of socially intelligent machines (computer applications, robots, Virtual Agents) that are capable of interacting and communicating in a natural way with humans, expressing through their figure a high degree of social intelligence, with a focus on applications in education and healthcare.</p><br><br>
<p>The SMART Lab seeks to recruit a motivated and passionate Junior Research Scientist to work under the supervision of Dr. Hanan Salam on topics including: (i) Human-Machine Interaction, (ii) Social Robotics, (iii) Artificial Intelligence for Diagnosis and Therapy of Individuals affected by Neurodevelopmental Disorders, (iv) Bias in AI.</p><br><br>

<p><span>The Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit Associate Research Scientist to work on advanced sustainable functionalized membranes for desalination and water treatment, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering.</span></p><br><br>
<p><span>The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on developing functionalized membrane materials to tailor sustainable antifouling hybrid ultrafiltration membranes and antibacterial nanofiltration or reverse osmosis membranes for desalination and water purification. The candidate will explore advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools (SEM, AFM, Raman, TEM, DSC, XRD, FTIR, TGA, BET, etc.) to correlate fabrication-structure-property-performance of novel nanomaterials with sustainable membranes for desalination and water purification via separation processes. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and engineers, graduate students, and undergraduate students.</span></p><br><br>
<p><span>The successful applicant will manage the project and work closely with post-doctoral researchers, establish deep technical knowledge, and develop transferable skills. He/she will actively be involved in developing novel concepts and writing research proposals. He/she will work on solving complex problems with efficiency and creativity. He/she will be involved in writing progress reports, authoring peer-reviewed publications, drafting patents, and presenting results at national and international conferences. <p><strong>Research Project:</strong></p><br><br>
<p>The successful candidate will contribute to a research project focused on the development, testing, and analysis of resilient geotechnical systems. The RNA Modifications, Intellect, and Neuro Degeneration (RNA-MIND) Laboratory at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to join our laboratory to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms in neuronal cells that can be potentially targeted to prevent, alleviate, and promote recovery from ischemic stroke.<br><br>The successful candidate will work with human cell lines, primary cultured neurons, and rodent models to investigate the cellular operational mechanisms of RNA modification in regulating gene expression in the context of neuroinflammation. Training background in biophysics and experience with liquid-liquid phase separation, RNA-protein interaction, RNA modification, and cell biology is highly desirable. We look for highly motivated individuals with strong commitment to neuroscience and biomedical research.<br><br>Techniques such as live-cell fluorescence imaging, flow cytometry, Ribo-seq, neural dynamics imaging are strongly valued. Strong grounding in molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning and RNA analysis are expected. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment that includes collaboration with fellow post-doctoral associates, senior and junior scientists, and undergraduate students. The RNA Modifications, Intellect, and Neuro Degeneration (RNA-MIND) Laboratory at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to join our laboratory to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms in neuronal cells that can be potentially targeted to prevent, alleviate, and promote recovery from ischemic stroke.<br><br>The successful candidate will work with human cell lines, primary cultured neurons, and rodent models to investigate the cellular operational mechanisms of RNA modification in regulating gene expression in the context of neuroinflammation. Training background in biophysics and experience with liquid-liquid phase separation, RNA-protein interaction, RNA modification, and cell biology is highly desirable. We look for highly motivated individuals with strong commitment to neuroscience and biomedical research.<br><br>Techniques such as live-cell fluorescence imaging, flow cytometry, Ribo-seq, neural dynamics imaging are strongly valued. Strong grounding in molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning and RNA analysis are expected. Our mission is two‑fold: to advance fundamental theory in probability and machine learning, and to translate those breakthroughs into high‑impact tools that serve the UAE, the wider Arab world, and global society.</p><br><br>
<p>We are seeking a Junior Research Scientist to join the team to work under the theme of Computational & Interactive Health under the supervision of Dr. Farah Shamout & Dr. Hanan Salam and in close collaboration with Prof. Nizar Habash. The researcher is expected to have strong machine learning & AI skills and exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. The project has three main objectives: (a) developing robust computational methods for decision-making in health based on clinical use cases of interest, (b) building a tailored health-focused Arabic knowledge interactive language model through the development of benchmark datasets, evaluation frameworks, and specialized LLMs and AI agents, and finally (c) designing specialized interactive multimodal multi-lingual natural interfaces.</p><br><br>

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for a Junior Research Scientist to join an exciting multidisciplinary research program investigating the environmental and ecological drivers of productive fishing grounds in the United Arab Emirates.<br><br>Working in partnership with Emirates Nature–WWF and government stakeholders, the successful candidate will support marine ecological surveys, fisheries monitoring, and environmental assessments that will contribute to evidence-based fisheries management and habitat restoration.<br><br>The Junior Research Scientist will become part of a multidisciplinary team undertaking ecological field surveys, environmental monitoring, habitat assessments, and fisheries research throughout the UAE. The role combines regular fieldwork with laboratory and data analysis, providing opportunities to contribute to applied research that directly supports marine conservation and sustainable fisheries management.<br><br>Working closely with researchers from Mubadala ACCESS, the successful candidate will assist with the collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of biological and environmental data, while contributing to technical reports, scientific publications, and stakeholder outputs.<br><br>Responsibilities include supporting marine field surveys, including fish community assessments, benthic habitat monitoring, underwater visual surveys, and environmental sampling. Responsibilities include developing habitat characterization workflows using combinations of bathymetric datasets, side-scan sonar, remotely sensed imagery, GIS, and other spatial datasets to produce habitat maps, ecological indicators, habitat suitability assessments, and spatial decision-support products.<br><br>The Post-Doctoral Associate will collaborate closely with project staff to design field campaigns, develop sampling strategies, participate in marine field surveys, and ensure the effective integration of environmental, biological, and spatial datasets. The successful candidate will establish robust data management and quality assurance workflows while preparing scientific manuscripts, technical reports, maps, visualizations, and presentations for project partners and government stakeholders.<br><br>Additional responsibilities include engaging with Emirates Nature–WWF, government agencies, and other stakeholders to communicate research findings and support the translation of science into management and policy outcomes.
