<p>Job Purpose
To lead sales growth and market expansion for FMCG food products (Milk Powder, Jam, Tomato Paste) across Africa, GCC, and other international regions by developing new markets, acquiring
new customers, and managing existing business relationships to achieve company targets.
Core Criteria Overview
1. Open new markets (not just maintain existing ones).
2. Understand African business culture and logistics.
3. Build and manage distributor networks.
4. Handle export documentation, pricing, and payment terms.
5. Represent the company professionally and grow the brand regionally.
Market Experience & Regional Knowledge
Must have prior experience selling to African markets (North, West, or East Africa).
1. Preferably in FMCG food or dairy sectors.
2. Understands import regulations, trade barriers, and logistics routes for Africa.
3. Familiar with distribution structures (importers, wholesalers, sub-distributors).
4. Knows how to adapt pricing and product strategy for markets with currency and demand variations.
Product-Specific Experience
Experience in FMCG food categories, and knowledge of competitors especially:
1. Milk powder / dairy (understanding of reconstitution, packaging formats, and shelf-life).
2. Tomato paste & jam (familiarity with tin, sachet, and jar packaging formats).
3. Evaporated milk (future line).
Distributor Development Skills.
Must know how to:
1. Identify and appoint reliable distributors or agents.
2. Negotiate trade terms (pricing, credit, and marketing support).
3. Establish exclusive agreements with performance clauses.
4. Support distributors in sales planning, stock management, and local promotions.
Sales & Business Development Competence. Proven ability to:
5. Prospect new customers and expand distribution networks.
6. Negotiate and close large-volume contracts.
7. Prepare sales forecasts and annual budgets.
8. Achieve or exceed export sales targets.
Export Process & Documentation Knowledge.
Understanding of:
1. Incoterms, LC (Letter of Credit), CAD, advance payments, and credit terms.
2. Shipping documentation (Invoice, Packing List, Certificate of Origin, Bill of Lading, etc.).
3. Product registration requirements (especially for dairy products in African countries).
4. Coordination with logistics, finance, and customs clearance agents.
Language & Communication:
1. English: Essential (for East & Anglophone Africa)
2. French: Highly preferred (for West & North Africa)
3. Arabic: Advantageous (for North Africa & GCC coordination)
Cultural Awareness & Adaptability. Must be able to:
1. Travel frequently and adapt to different African business environments.
2. Respect local business etiquette, timing, and negotiation styles.
3. Handle diverse challenges (logistics delays, pricing volatility, import regulations).
Commercial & Analytical Skills. Should be able to:
1. Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and consumer behavior.
2. Recommend pricing strategies and promotional activities.
3. Understand profit margins, trade costs, and cost-to-serve per market.</p><p>Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing, or International Trade.
2. Minimum 4? 6 years of export sales or business development experience in the FMCG / food
sector.
3. Proven record of opening new markets and acquiring new customers in Africa or GCC.
