Join the pioneer tribe. AI-First since December 2023.
Position: Senior Director of Performance Marketing, AI-First
Total Annual Package: Up to $240,000 USD + comprehensive benefits Base: Up to $200,000 USDPerformance bonus: up to 20% of base, paid monthly
Location: Remote (Global)
Role Overview Puffy, a market-leading, nine-figure D2C brand and Top 5 US mattress brand with over $1 billion in sales, is hiring a Senior Director of Performance Marketing to own a multi-million-dollar monthly paid engine across Google and Meta with full authority over systems, measurement, creative testing, capital allocation, and team, reporting directly to the CEO.
This role exists to convert a multi-million-dollar paid budget into maximum contribution margin, building the decision systems, measurement infrastructure, and team that let the revenue engine run and scale without day-to-day executive involvement.
The Problems You'll Own:
Primary: Grow revenue while holding margin: Grow revenue from a multi-million-dollar monthly paid budget across the two major platforms while holding contribution margin after returns and financing. This is a high-AOV, sparse-conversion category where each added dollar of spend normally returns less. The job is to push growth to the point where margin still holds. Allocate capital on true marginal return, not platform-reported ROAS. Convert efficiency to profit through a contribution-margin lens, after returns and financing costs, not ROAS in isolation.
Secondary: Build the system that runs the scaling decisions: Design and document the rules that govern spend: when to pause, when to increase budget, when to pull back, and the measurement each decision depends on. The system should run the scaling without day-to-day executive oversight.
The Career Accelerator:This is not a role where you manage dashboards and present decks. The scope is scarce: very few Senior Directors of Performance Marketing get simultaneous authority over multi-million-dollar monthly budgets on both major platforms, full ownership of measurement and creative systems, org design power, and a direct line to the CEO with no layers in between.
Your first 12 months: build pause/hold/scale logic and budget guardrails from scratch. Deploy geo-holdout incrementality testing. Architect the creative engine as a system: concept pipeline, testing taxonomy, briefs, hook/hold analytics, UGC, and whitelisting. Design capital allocation on marginal return where every added dollar fights diminishing returns. Design promo architecture across the retail calendar: pulse strategy, financing offers, funnel alignment. Identify and pilot new paid channels beyond Google and Meta. Shape the future of performance marketing at Puffy, where paid media is the primary growth lever.
What Is In It For You:This isn't just another performance marketing leadership role. This is your chance to become a true industry architect.
1. Full Authority Over the Paid Media Engine You set the strategy, build the systems, and own the outcomes. You'll design and document the rules that govern multi-million-dollar monthly spend across Google and Meta: when to pause, when to increase budget, when to pull back. You own measurement as source of truth: platform attribution vs. backend reality, MER, geo-holdout incrementality. Every number you report, you can defend. You hold the operating standard: accurate forecasts, weekly cadence, no unmonitored 48-hour window, zero CEO-discovered issues. The CEO reads your dashboard, not the ad accounts. Org design authority sits with you (CEO sign-off). The system you build must be operable by any team member, with automation layered where it earns its place.
2. Join a High-Performance Organization and Partner with the 1%:???? Puffy: Top 5 Mattress Brand in US with Over $1 Billion USD in Sales???? Great Place to Work Certified???? Work directly with Forbes Council Member CEO. Your vision is the company's vision. Gain firsthand exposure to strategic decisions and high-velocity execution that drives a global brand
3. Embrace Radical Flexibility Work from anywhere in the world with meaningful time zone overlap. Structure your environment around your best thinking, whether that's a home office, a co-working space, (OR) our Dubai headquarters (with full relocation, visa support, and 0% income tax if you choose). Your output is your credential, not your location.
4. Architect Strategy in an AI-Native Environment While other companies are debating whether to adopt AI tools, Puffy has been AI-First since December 2023. You'll architect paid media strategy with an AI-native toolbox, from AI-driven analytics and attribution modeling to automated creative analysis and hook/hold diagnostics. This is a competitive advantage few performance marketing leaders in the world will have.
What You'll Need:6+ years in performance marketing, including sustained ownership of $1M+/month Meta spend and $1M+/month Google spend (concurrent or across roles). "Ownership" means direct authority over strategy, structure, and budget, not just execution. Google depth that is PMax-era: structure, feed optimization, brand/non-brand economics High-AOV considered-purchase experience ($1,000+ AOV: furniture, jewelry, home fitness, or comparable): sparse-conversion, long-lag decision-making Has personally built, not inherited, bid/budget/pause decision systems at scale. Candidates will be asked to present a playbook they authored. Statistical decision literacy: volume gating, false-kill vs. wasted-spend trade-offs, threshold derivation, incrementality test design Creative testing systems at scale, post-ATT: concept-vs-variation discipline, creative analytics Team leadership including senior direct reports; experience building or restructuring a performance marketing function Structured approach to new channel evaluation: selection frameworks, pilot design, budget allocation, and kill criteria
Good-to-Have:Scripting against Meta/Google APIs; Google Ads Scripts Mixed agency + in-house background Experience with emerging paid channels (Tik Tok, Connected TV, affiliate/partnerships) D2C e-commerce background in home goods, furniture, or comparable high-AOV verticals
The Puffy DNA:We're restless, perpetually hungry, and fast-paced, driven by an unwavering belief that we can outperform any competitor, regardless of their size. Be the Owner: We don't hire employees; we welcome owners. You're accountable for results, not activity. Execute with Urgency: We thrive in high-stakes environments by making thoughtful decisions quickly and acting decisively.
