Role Purpose Lead and oversee the delivery of technical services across Cement, Dry Mortar, Concrete Blocks, Ready-Mix Concrete, and other concrete products. JOB TITLE & JOB DESCRIPTION: SITE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER<br>John R Harris & Partners – Dubai is currently looking for a Sr. Site Engineer - Civil to join our growing Supervision team to support recent project appointments in UAE.<br>The Site Engineer will be responsible for overseeing on-site civil and structural works and ensuring the execution of construction activities aligns with structural design specifications, codes, and safety standards. The role involves close collaboration with architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure timely and quality delivery of structural components across commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects in the UAE.<br>KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<br>Supervise and inspect on-site structural work for compliance with approved designs, specifications, and local regulations (DM, ADM, etc.). <ul><li>Coordinate all civil and structural design activities related to EHV substation projects to ensure timely and accurate development of engineering deliverables in compliance with project requirements.</li><li><p>Act as the focal point for civil design coordination between the engineering consultant, EPC contractor, client, and internal project teams.</p><br></li><li>Review submitted drawings and documents for completeness, technical consistency, constructability and interface compliance prior to submission to the client/consultant.</li><li>Support the preparation, review and coordination of:<ul><li>RFIs / TQs</li><li>Design clarifications</li><li>Design change notices</li><li>Value engineering proposals where applicable</li></ul></li><li>Strong technical knowledge of civil and structural design for EHV substations, including:<ul><li>Reinforced concrete design concepts for heavy equipment foundations and buildings</li><li>Steel structure foundations and structural interfaces</li><li>Building layouts and substation civil arrangement requirements</li><li>Cable trench, duct bank and utility corridor design coordination</li><li>Site grading, earthworks and finished level coordination</li><li>Drainage, oil containment and external infrastructure works</li></ul></li><li>Ability to review and coordinate:<ul><li>Design basis reports</li><li>General arrangement drawings</li><li>Civil and structural design drawings</li><li>Foundation schedules and structural details</li><li><p>Technical specifications, BOQs and material submittals</p><br></li></ul></li><li>Strong capability in multidisciplinary design coordination, ensuring all civil deliverables are aligned with electrical and MEP requirements.</li><li>Ability to identify design clashes, constructability issues, missing information and interface gaps at early stages.</li><li>Proficiency in reviewing and coordinating engineering deliverables using:<ul><li>AutoCAD</li><li>MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)</li><li>PDF mark-up / document review tools</li><li>Familiarity with BIM / Navisworks / common data environment platforms is an advantage</li></ul></li></ul> <ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.</li><li>Minimum 10–15 years of overall experience in civil/structural design and engineering coordination, with at least 7–10 years dedicated to EHV/HV substation projects (132kV / 220kV / 400kV).</li><li>Proven experience in the design coordination of EHV GIS/AIS substations and associated utility infrastructure works.</li><li>Strong background in civil and structural design coordination for substation facilities, including but not limited to:<ul><li>GIS / control / relay / telecom / admin buildings</li><li>Transformer, shunt reactor and equipment foundations</li><li>Gantry and steel structure foundations</li><li>Cable trenches, duct banks and utility corridors</li><li>Underground services, storm water and foul drainage systems</li><li>Roads, paving, hardscape and site development works</li><li>Boundary walls, fencing and security-related civil works</li><li>Oil containment pits, firefighting tanks and other utility structures</li></ul></li><li>Experience in coordinating civil/structural engineering deliverables with electrical, MEP, protection/control and telecom disciplines for substation projects.</li><li>Previous experience in UAE / GCC utility projects is highly preferred, especially for transmission or grid substations.</li><li>Familiarity with client / consultant review processes, design approvals, IFC drawing development, technical clarifications and multidisciplinary interface management.</li><li>Experience in handling and coordinating:<ul><li>Design submissions and re-submissions</li><li>Material and technical submittals</li><li>RFIs / TQs / design comments</li><li>Design change requests and variation-related technical assessments</li></ul></li><li>Strong exposure to consultant / client comments resolution, engineering coordination meetings and ensuring timely closure of design review comments.</li><li>Experience with EPC contractors, engineering consultants and utility clients on fast-track substation projects is preferred.</li><li>Knowledge of international codes and utility-specific standards relevant to substation civil and structural design.</li></ul> </div>
